Hans-Christian Gabrielsen
Hans-Christian Gabrielsen (27 July 1967 – 9 March 2021) was a Norwegian industrial worker, politician, and trade unionist. He was elected leader of the Norwegian Confederation of Trade Unions from May 2017. Career Gabrielsen was born in Slemmestad, in Røyken in the present-day municipality of Asker. He was assigned with the pulp mill Tofte Industrier from 1984 to 1995, and was trained as process operator. From 1996 to 2003 he served as secretary for the United Federation of Trade Unions, and from 2003 had other management roles for the federation. Gerd Kristiansen
Gerd Kristiansen (born 1 August 1955 in Harstad) is a Norwegian licensed practical nurse. She served as the leader of the Norwegian Confederation of Trade Unions from 2013 to 2017. Career Gerd Kristiansen was born in the village of Fauskevåg in Harstad municipality and grew up on a farm. At the age of 17 she became a single mother. She took some courses in economics but also worked as a fisher in the North Sea and the Barents Sea. In the early 1980s she worked on a fishing boat that shipwrecked outside Kiberg, but all on board survived. After studying in Tromsø, she became a licensed practical nurse. Peggy Hessen Følsvik
Peggy Hessen Følsvik (born on 12 November 1960) is a Norwegian trade unionist. She was elected first deputy leader of Norwegian Confederation of Trade Unions at the LO congress in 2017. In March 2021, she became the president of the union after the death of Hans-Christian Gabrielsen. She previously worked as a cabin crew in Widerøes Flyveselskap and Braathens SAFE where she was elected full-time shop steward in 1998. Slemmestad
Slemmestad is a village in Røyken in Asker municipality in Viken, Norway. Slemmestad is located on the west bank of the Oslofjord, west of Oslo. History Historically Slemmestad was located on the old highway running between Oslo and Drammen. Until the establishment of cement factory in 1892, this was a pure farming village. The largest farms were the Lillelien, together with øvre and nedre Slemmestad. Slemmestad was built around the Aktieselskabet Christiania Portland Cementfabrik cement plant. Aktieselskabet Christiania Portland Cementfabrik, later Slemmestad sementfabrikk, was in operation from 1893 to 1989. Buskerud () is a former county and a current electoral district in Norway, bordering Akershus, Oslo, Oppland, Sogn og Fjordane, Hordaland, Telemark and Vestfold. Røyken
Røyken is a district and village (''bygd'') and a former municipality in Buskerud in Viken County, Norway. In 2020 Røyken was merged with the municipalities of Hurum and Asker to form the new Asker Municipality (informally called "Greater Asker") located in the newly formed Viken county. Asker ( no, Asker), properly called Askerbygda in Norwegian, is a district and former municipality in Akershus, Norway. Södra Cell Tofte
Södra Cell Tofte is a pulp mill located at Tofte in Buskerud, Norway. The plant dates back to 1897 when Tofte Cellulosefabrik was founded at the initiative of industrialist Anthon B. Nilsen. The raw material used at the plant is from eucalyptus, pine and spruce. The plant received about 25% of all Norwegian timber. Tofte Industrier was formed in 1983 to operate the plant and produce chemical paper pulp. In 1989 Tofte Industrier was merged into Norske Skog.
