Hannah Collins
Hannah Collins (born 1956) is a British contemporary artist and film-maker. Collins' works treat the collective experiences of memory, history and the everyday in the modern world. She is known for her photographic installations, but has also made films in Spain and Russia. She was nominated for the 1993 Turner Prize. Biography Collins studied at Slade School of Fine Arts in London (1974–78) and in USA on a Fulbright Scholarship (1978–79). Collins' works form a reflection on issues such as the collective experiences of memory, the spaces that have marked and continue to mark cultural and social history, and figures in everyday life and in modern life. Her work incorporates notions of otherness, time, loss and transformation, and spans historical narratives, still lives and occasional portraits within an expanded field of photography. Turner Prize
The Turner Prize, named after the English painter J. M. W. Turner, is an annual prize presented to a British visual artist. Between 1991 and 2016, only artists under the age of 50 were eligible (this restriction was removed for the 2017 award). The prize is awarded at Tate Britain every other year, with various venues outside of London being used in alternate years. Since its beginnings in 1984 it has become the UK's most publicised art award. The award represents all media. As of 2004, the monetary award was established at £40,000. There have been different sponsors, including Channel 4 television and Gordon's Gin. A prominent event in British culture, the prize has been awarded by various distinguished celebrities: in 2006 this was Yoko Ono, and in 2012 it was presented by Jude Law. The Centre national de la photographie is a French association managed by the Ministry of Culture, dedicated to photography and contemporary art. In 2004 it merged with the "Patrimoine photographique" to create the association of the Galerie nationale du Jeu de Paume Jeu de Paume ( en, Real Tennis Court) is an arts centre for modern and postmodern photography and media. Sprengel Museum
Sprengel Museum is a museum of modern art in Hanover, Lower Saxony, holding one of the most significant collections of modern art in Germany. It is located in a building situated adjacent to the Masch Lake (german: Maschsee) approximately south of the state museum. The museum opened in , and the building, designed by Peter and Ursula Trint (of Cologne) and Dieter Quast (of Heidelberg), was extended in 1992. Bernhard Sprengel donated his extensive collection of modern art to the city of Hanover in 1969, as well as financially supporting the construction of the museum. The city of Hanover and the state of Lower Saxony agreed to operate the museum jointly. The UCL Slade School of Fine Art (informally The Slade) is the art school of University College London (UCL) and is based in London, England.
