Hanila Parish
Hanila Parish ( et, Hanila vald) was a rural municipality of Estonia, in Lääne County. It had a population of 1,679 (2006) and an area of . In 2017, Hanila Parish, Lihula Parish, Koonga Parish, and Varbla Parish were merged to form Lääneranna Parish. Local government Current chairman of the council ( est: ''volikogu esimees'') was Mardo Leiumaa. The mayor ( est: ''vallavanem'') was Arno Peksar. A municipality ( et, omavalitsus, plural ) is the smallest administrative subdivision of Estonia. Each municipality is a unit of self-government with its representative and executive bodies. The municipalities in Estonia cover the entire territory of the country. Municipalities in Estonia are of two types: *Urban municipalities or towns (, singular ) *Rural municipalities or parishes (, singular ). There is no other status distinction between them. Municipalities may contain one or several settlements. All but 5 urban municipalities ( Haapsalu, Narva-Jõesuu, Paide, Pärnu and Tartu) plus 1 rural municipality ( Ruhnu) contain only one settlement. As of 2017, there are no longer any "borough-parishes", i.e. rural municipalities with only one borough-type settlement. Ruhnu Parish contains only one village and is therefore a "village-parish". Virtsu
Virtsu is a small borough (') in Lääneranna Parish, Pärnu County, Estonia. It lies on the western coast of continental Estonia, and is a location of the main port for traffic to and from Saaremaa, the largest island of Estonia. The Virtsu ferry goes to Kuivastu, which is located on the island of Muhu, which is in turn connected to Saaremaa by the largest causeway in Estonia, the Väinatamm. As of the 2011 Census, the settlement's population was 539. Puhtu peninsula, a former island, belongs to Virtsu.
