Hani Eltair ( ar, هاني الطير; born May 10, 1981) is an Egyptian former swimmer, African and Arabian swimming champion, who specialised in long-distance freestyle as well as butterfly events. Eltair competed in the men's 400 m freestyle at the 2000 Summer Olympics in Sydney. He eclipsed a FINA B-standard entry time of 4:04.47 from the Pan Arab Games in Amman, Jordan. He challenged five other swimmers in heat one, including Singapore's two-time Olympian Sng Ju Wei Sng Ju Wei (born 3 June 1980) is a Singaporean former swimmer, who specialized in sprint and middle-distance freestyle events. Freestyle Swimming
Freestyle is a category of Swimming (sport), swimming competition, defined by the rules of the International Swimming Federation (FINA), in which competitors are subject to a few limited restrictions on their swimming stroke. Freestyle races are the most common of all swimming competitions, with distances beginning with 50 meters (50 yards) and reaching 1500 meters (1650 yards), also known as the mile. The term 'freestyle stroke' is sometimes used as a synonym for 'front crawl', as front crawl is the fastest surface swimming stroke. It is now the most common stroke used in freestyle competitions. The men's 400 metre freestyle event at the 2000 Summer Olympics took place on 16 September at the Sydney International Aquatic Centre in Sydney, Australia. The 1999 Pan Arab Games were ninth edition of the multi-sport event between Arab countries and were held from August 15 to August 31. A total of around 4600 athletes from 21 countries participated in the 29 sports on offer. The opening ceremony that took place in Al Hussein Youth City Stadium was officially opened by King Abdullah II. Sng Ju Wei
Sng Ju Wei (born 3 June 1980) is a Singaporean former swimmer, who specialized in sprint and middle-distance freestyle events. He is a two-time Olympian (1996 and 2000), and a triple medalist at the 2001 Southeast Asian Games. Sng also trained for the Aquatic Performance Swim Club in Singapore district, under head coach Jin Xia Li. Sng made his Olympic debut, as a 16-year-old from Singapore, at the 1996 Summer Olympics in Atlanta. He failed to reach the top 16 final in any of his individual events, finishing fifty-eighth in the 50 m freestyle (25.04), fifty-seventh in the 100 m freestyle (53.50), thirty-seventh in the 200 m freestyle (1:55.51), and thirty-third in the 400 m freestyle (4:12.24).
