Hands off our Forest (HOOF) is a campaign group formed in 2010 to fight the UK Government's proposed sale of publicly owned land in the Forest of Dean. 'Hands off our Forest' describe themselves as a broad alliance of groups and individuals. Historical context The Forest of Dean has a long history of struggle between commoners, the Crown and private landowners. The Dean and New Forests Act 1808 resulted in large areas of the forest being enclosed, depriving commoners of their customary privileges, and led directly to the Dean Forest Riots of 1831. In 1981, Parliament passed the Forestry Act 1981, amending an earlier act of 1967 to allow the sale of land managed by the Forestry Commission. Following a sustained campaign, the Forest of Dean was specifically exempted from the act. Hands Off the People of Iran (HOPI) is a political organisation in the United Kingdom founded in 2007, closely associated with the Communist Party of Great Britain (Provisional Central Committee). It is opposed to Western military intervention in Iran, as well as to the sitting Iranian government, and supports "internal" regime change. The three most prominent figures are Mike Macnair, the Israeli Moshé Machover and Yassamine Mather, an Iranian associated with the Workers Left Unity – Iran. It was denied affiliation with the Stop the War Coalition due to questions raised over its support for regime change. The Hands Off Russia campaign was an international political initiative first launched by British Socialists in 1919 to organise opposition to the British intervention on the side of the White armies against the Bolsheviks in the Russian Civil War, as well as to oppose support for Poland during the Polish-Soviet war. The movement was funded partly with financial support from the Bolsheviks themselves. Their most prominent success was in stopping the sailing of the SS Jolly George with munitions bound for Poland. Story Hands Off! is about Kotarou Oohira, an effeminate fifteen-year-old who unknowingly possesses a touch-based ESP. He goes to live with his grandfather and his cousin Tatsuki Oohira, who also possesses psychic abilities. Tatsuki has the power of postcognition which he received from touching his cousin as a child. At their school they meet up with Yuuto Urushiyama, another psychic with the ability to read people's emotional auras.
