Handcar Peak
Handcar Peak is a mountain summit located in the Railroad Group of the Coast Mountains, in the Pemberton Valley of southwestern British Columbia, Canada. It is situated northwest of Pemberton and west of Locomotive Mountain. Precipitation runoff from the peak drains into Sampson Creek and Buck Creek which are both tributaries of the Lillooet River. Handcar Peak is more notable for its steep rise above local terrain than for its absolute elevation as topographic relief is significant with the summit rising over 2,050 meters (6,725 ft) above Lillooet River and Pemberton Valley in approximately . The mountain's name was proposed in 1978 by mountaineer Karl Ricker of the Alpine Club of Canada, in association with Railroad Pass, Railroad Creek and other railroad-related names of the immediate vicinity. Railroad Pass (British Columbia)
Railroad Pass, 1385 m (4544 ft), usually known locally as Railway Pass, is a mountain pass in the Pacific Ranges of the Coast Mountains in southwestern British Columbia, Canada. Traversed by a seasonal dirt road known as the Hurley Main and sometimes also referred to therefore as Hurley Pass, the pass connects the Pemberton Meadows area of the upper valley of the Lillooet River, via Railroad Creek, to the uppermost reaches of the Hurley River, the main south fork of the Bridge River which the Hurley joins at the settlement of Gold Bridge. Railroad Pass gets its name from its potential as a possible route for a railway through the Coast Mountains although no formal record of such a survey exists. Two-thousanders are mountains that have a height of at least 2,000 height above sea level, metres above sea level, but less than 3,000 metres. The term is used in Alpine circles, especially in Europe (e.g. German: ''Zweitausender''). Mount Sampson
Mount Sampson is a mountain summit located in the Thiassi Range of the Coast Mountains, in the Pemberton Valley of southwestern British Columbia, Canada. It is the highest point in the Thiassi Range. Sampson is situated northwest of Pemberton, and southeast of Mount Ethelweard, which is its nearest higher peak. Precipitation runoff from the peak drains into tributaries of the Lillooet and Hurley Rivers. The mountain was named in association with Sampson Creek, which flows south from the mountain. In 1911, E.N. Sampson acquired a preemption located on the east side of the locally named Sampson Creek. It was spelled ''Samson'' Mountain when it was first adopted in 1967 on maps.
