Handa-kun
is a Japanese manga series written and illustrated by . The story follows Seishu Handa, a calligrapher who moves to the remote Gotō Islands off the western coast of Kyūshū, and his various interactions with the people of the island. The manga started with three one-shots published in Square Enix's ''Gangan Powered'' magazine from February 2008 to February 2009, and began serialization on the ''Gangan Online'' website on the same month; it was also serialized in parallel in the ''Monthly Shōnen Gangan'' magazine from July 2014 and finished in December 2018; it resumed for a limited time in the magazine from April to September 2023. Its chapters were collected in 19 volumes. A 12-episode anime television series adaptation, produced by Kinema Citrus, aired from July to September 2014. , previously known as , is a Japanese animation studio located in Nerima, Tokyo, Nerima, Tokyo, Japan. The company was founded on November 28, 2007, following an earlier foundation of its predecessor Studio Barcelona on October 5, 2005. History Studio Barcelona was founded on October 5, 2005, by Nobuyuki Suga following a split from Group TAC. Following unknown circumstances, the company technically went defunct and was recreated as Diomedéa by Makoto Kohara, who was previously an employee of Studio Barcelona, on November 28, 2007. The company's headquarters and much of the staff remained the same following the transition. Between 2018 and 2020, Diomedéa collaborated with Studio Blanc under the brand name Ezóla. Yen Press is an American manga, graphic novel and light novel publisher co-owned by Kadokawa Corporation and Hachette Book Group. It published '' Yen Plus'', a monthly comic anthology, between 2008 and 2013. In addition to translated material, Yen Press has published original series, most notably Svetlana Chmakova's '' Nightschool'' and a manga adaptation of James Patterson's ''Maximum Ride''. History Yen Press was founded in 2006 by former Borders buyer Kurt Hassler and DC Comics VP Rich Johnson.
