Han Gong-ju
''Han Gong-ju'' () is a 2013 South Korean crime drama film written and directed by Lee Su-jin, starring Chun Woo-hee in the title role. It was inspired by the infamous Miryang gang rape case of 2004. The film premiered at the 2013 Busan International Film Festival where it won the CGV Movie Collage Award and the Citizen Reviewers' Award. It was released in theaters on April 17, 2014. Plot The movie starts with Gong Ju (Chun Woo hee) facing a crowd of disparaging adults as she tells them she did nothing wrong. The scene shifts to her teacher from her current school, Lee Nan do (Jo Dae Hee), helping her pack her luggage as she is about to be transferred to another school in a different town. Lee Su-jin (director)
Lee Su-jin (; born 1977) is a South Korean film director and screenwriter. His first feature was the award-winning ''Han Gong-ju'' (2014). Career Lee Su-jin was born in Gimcheon in 1977. He began his filmmaking career directing short films, notably ''Papa'' (2004) which received a Korean Film Archive Award at the 30th Seoul Independent Film Festival, and ''Enemy's Apple'' (2007) which won Best Film in the ''A City of Sadness'' section of the 7th Mise-en-scène Short Film Festival. Lee made his feature film directorial debut with ''Han Gong-ju'', which he also wrote and produced. The Director's Cut Awards () is an annual awards ceremony for excellence in film in South Korea. It is presented by the Korea Film Director's Network (KFDN), a group of approximately 300 Korean filmmakers. The KFDN selects winners in the Korean film industry in eight categories: Director, Actor (Male/Female), New Director, New Actor (Male/Female), Producer and Independent Film Director.
