William James Hammell
William James Hammell (28 June 1881 – 4 December 1959) was a Progressive party then Liberal member of the House of Commons of Canada. He was born in Raymond, Ontario and became a farmer. He was first elected to Parliament at the Muskoka riding in the 1921 general election as a Progressive candidate. In 1922, his party allegiance switched to the Liberals. After completing his only term in the House of Commons, the 14th Canadian Parliament, Hammell left federal politics and did not seek re-election in the 1925 vote. Todd Layne Hammel (born December 7, 1966) is a retired professional arena football player who played for 10 teams since his Arena Football League (AFL) career began in 1992. He is the great grandson of Oklahoma Indian Chief Quana Parker and a member of the Comanche tribe. He is a distant relative of QB Sam Bradford. Steven Hammell (born 18 February 1982) is a Scottish football coach and former player, who manages Scottish Premiership club Motherwell. Hammell played as a left-back for Motherwell in almost 500 league games across two spells, either side of a stint with Southend United. Hammell also played once for Scotland, in 2004. Penny Hammel (born March 24, 1962) is an American professional golfer, who joined the LPGA Tour in 1985. Amateur career Hammel was born in Decatur, Illinois. She won several amateur tournaments including the 1979 U.S. Girls' Junior. In the 1979 PGA Junior Championship she finished five strokes ahead of her closest opponent. As a member of the University of Miami women's golf team, Hammel won the 1983 NCAA Women's Golf Championship, and her team won the title in 1984. She was a 1983-84 All-American and a member of the 1984 U.S. Curtis Cup team. In 1983, she won the Broderick Award (now the Honda Sports Award) as the nation's best female collegiate golfer.
