Hamdan Al-Azmi
Hamdan Salem Al-Azmi (; born 16 April 1968) is a Kuwaiti lawyer and politician serving in the National Assembly since 2013. Early career Hamdan Al-Azmi was born on 16 April 1968 in Kuwait. He got his bachelor of law from Alexandria University. After that, he got his law degree from Tanta University Tanta University (Arabic: جامعة طنطا) is an Egyptian university in the city of Tanta, Al Gharbiyah governorate, Egypt. The university is under the direct scientific supervision of the Ministry of Higher Education. It was founded fi .... He later worked as a lawyer and a legal researcher at the Ministry of Interior. 2022 Kuwaiti General Election
General elections were held in Kuwait on 29 September 2022 following the dissolution of parliament by Crown Prince Mishal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah. However, the results were annulled by the Constitutional Court on 19 March 2023 after judges ruled that the previous parliament had not been dissolved properly. 2023 Kuwaiti General Election
Snap general elections were held in Kuwait on 6 June 2023 to elect 50 of the 65 members of the National Assembly. The elections took place following the annulment of the results of the 2022 snap elections by the Constitutional Court on 19 March 2023 and the redissolution of the 16th session on 2 May. Background During the 16th legislative session, uncooperative MPs and ministers led to multiple no-confidence votes and several government resignations. Actions such as members sitting in ministers' seats in the parliament, led to ministers not attend sessions, which in turn resulted in a member-organized sit-in in the parliament building. This prompted Crown Prince Mishal Al-Ahmad to dissolve parliament on 2 August 2022. Multiple former MPs and citizens appealed to the Constitutional Court to overturn the dissolution. The National Assembly (, ''Majlis al-ʾUmma'') is the unicameral legislature of Kuwait. The National Assembly met in Kuwait City.
