Halyna Korin
Halyna (Anna) Ivanivna Korin (Галина (Анна) Іванівна Корінь) was a bandura player, singer ( soprano), and writer born May 12, 1926, in Klymivka (Poltava Oblast), Ukraine. She emigrated to Germany in 1944 and then Australia in 1949. Korin died on March 1, 2014, in Melbourne. Biography Halyna (Anna) Korin's parents were Iwan (1903–1981) and Paraska Glouchowera (born 1898) and she was raised with two siblings. From 1939 to 1943 Korin worked at the Krasnograd City Theater in the Kharkiv region until she emigrated to Germany in 1944. While there, she married orchestra leader, Stefan Ivanovych Korin (1914–2007) in October 1948. Korin emigrated to Adelaide, Australia in 1949 with Stefan, their families, and members of the Tchaika Choir. From 1951 the Korin family lived in Melbourne where Stefan restarted their choir, with Korin as soprano. Klymivka is a village in Poltava Raion of Poltava Oblast of Ukraine. It belongs to Lanna rural hromada, one of the hromadas of Ukraine. Their local government body is called the . Geography The village of Klymivka is located on the left bank of the . Three kilometers upstream is the village of Fedorivka () and downstream is the village of Novoselivka (). A drying stream with a dam flows through the village. History The village was founded in the mid-18th century. The earliest recorded mention of the village was in 1775, when it was referred to as the "Klimovka suburb at the Bronyevskaya mill" (Original: ""). Lidcombe is a suburb in western Sydney, in the state of New South Wales, Australia. Lidcombe is located west of the Sydney central business district, in the local government area of Cumberland Council, with a small industrial part in the north in the City of Parramatta. Fawkner Crematorium And Memorial Park
Fawkner Memorial Park is located in the north-western Melbourne suburb of Fawkner, Victoria, Australia. It is the largest cemetery by land size in the state, and managed by Greater Metropolitan Cemeteries Trust. Merlynston Creek, a tributary of Merri Creek, is a major geographical feature running through both Fawkner Cemetery and the Northern Memorial Park. History In 1906, the Municipal Cemetery, Fawkner (as it was then called) opened to meet the needs of the north west. The cemetery was designed and run by Charles Heath, a surveyor and architect. The first burial took place on 10 December 1906. This was considered to be the unofficial opening of the cemetery. The funeral was conducted by John Allison from Sydney Road. The cemetery was adjacent to Fawkner railway station on the Upfield line, with special trains carrying the deceased to the cemetery from 1906 to 1939. Michael (Gregory) Minsky, (Михаил (Григорий) Минский) born Michael Spirin (Spiridonov), also known as Mino Minzer and between Ukrainians as Myhailo Minsky (12 August 1918, Bagaevo, Tatarstan – 9 October 1988, Zwolle, Netherlands) was a baritone singer, one of the finest interpreters of Russian and Ukrainian songs, and a conductor of the Don Cossack Choir Serge Jaroff. Russian years Since early childhood, Minsky showed an interest in music and culture. He mastered the bayan (accordion) and showed his talents as a singer while quite young. In 1935, Minsky was admitted to the Rabfak College (workers faculty) at Kazan State University where he studied geology.
