Hallfield
Hallfield or Hallfields is an area predominantly of council estates in Wetherby, West Yorkshire, England. The area is situated east of the town centre. The area is home to Wetherby High School. History and development The Hallfield area was for many years before residential development largely in the grounds of the Hallfield Mansions, a large house which lay derelict for many years until it was replaced in the 2000s by a medical centre. The area was from the 1930s to the 1950s home to the landship, HMS Ceres. Until the post-war years, however, the area remained largely undeveloped. Post war demand for social housing lead to the building of the early parts of the Hallfields Estate in the 1950s. The early parts of the estate centres on First, Second, Third and Fourth Avenue. In the 1960s further council housing was built around Ceres Road, which is separated from the earlier parts by a cemetery. Wetherby
Wetherby ( ) is a market town and civil parishes in England, civil parish in the City of Leeds, West Yorkshire, England. It is close to West Yorkshire county's border with North Yorkshire and lies approximately from Leeds city centre, from York and from Harrogate. The town stands on the River Wharfe and, for centuries, it has been a crossing place and staging post on the A1 road (Great Britain), Great North Road midway between London and Edinburgh. Wetherby Bridge, which spans the River Wharfe, is a Scheduled Ancient Monument and a Grade II listed building, listed structure. Wetherby High School
Wetherby High School (formerly Wetherby Secondary Modern School) is a Mixed-sex education, coeducational secondary school located in the Hallfield area of Wetherby, West Yorkshire, England. The school is run by the City of Leeds Local Education Authority. It is situated on Hallfield Lane, on the Hallfields Estate in Wetherby, and adjacent to the Wetherby Campus of Leeds City College, formerly Park Lane College. The school buildings were frequently used by the college at night. It was formerly a sixth form until it stopped taking in students in 2019. Harehills is an inner-city area of east Leeds, West Yorkshire, England. It is about northeast of Leeds city centre. Harehills is between the A58 road, A58 (towards Wetherby) and the A64 road, A64 (towards York). Collingham is a village and civil parish south-west of Wetherby in West Yorkshire, England. It is in the City of Leeds metropolitan borough. City Square, Leeds
City Square is a paved area north of Leeds railway station at the junction of Park Row to the east and Wellington Street to the south. It is a triangular area where six roads meet: Infirmary Street and Park Row to the north, Boar Lane and Bishopsgate Street to the south-east, and Quebec Street and Wellington Street to the south-west. The only building with a direct frontage is the former General Post Office, on the north-west side. History Proposals were made in 1893 to transform the area in front of the station.
