Halina Chrostowska
Halina Chrostowska (25 July 1929 – 22 April 1990), also known as Halina Chrostowska-Piotrowicz, was a Polish visual artist, graphic artist, printmaker, activist, educator, and illustrator. Biography Halina Chrostowska was born on 25 July 1929 in Warsaw, Second Polish Republic (now Poland). She was the daughter of noted artist, Stanisław Ostoja-Chrostowski. Chrostowska studied painting and printmaking at the Academy of Fine Arts in Warsaw (1946 to 1950) under . After graduation she taught at the Academy of Fine Arts in Warsaw's faculty of graphic arts from 1950 to 1989. She found a printmaking studio in Warsaw in 1962, which remained open until 1989. Her early work was within the social realism movement, followed by a move towards more formal and technical work. She would combined various printing techniques, such as etchings combined with linocuts and woodcuts. Powązki Cemetery
Powązki Cemetery (; ), also known as Stare Powązki (), is a historic necropolis located in Wola district, in the western part of Warsaw, Poland. It is the most famous cemetery in the city and one of the oldest, having been established in 1790. It is the burial place of many illustrious individuals from Polish history. Some are interred along the "Avenue of the Distinguished" – ''Aleja Zasłużonych'', created in 1925. It is estimated that over one million people are buried at Powązki. The cemetery is often confused with the newer Powązki Military Cemetery, which is located to the north-west of Powązki Cemetery. The Biennale Internazionale Dell’Arte Contemporanea, also known as the Florence Biennale is an art exhibition held in Florence, Italy. Since 1997 it has been held every two years in the exhibition spaces of the Fortezza da Basso, Florence. São Paulo Art Biennial
The São Paulo Art Biennial ( Portuguese: ''Bienal de São Paulo'') was founded in 1951 and has been held every two years since. It is the second oldest art biennial in the world after the Venice Biennale (in existence since 1895), which serves as its role model. History The Biennial was founded by the Italian-Brazilian industrialist Ciccillo Matarazzo (1898–1977). Since 1957, the São Paulo Biennial has been held in the Ciccillo Matarazzo pavilion in the Parque do Ibirapuera. The three-story pavilion was designed by a team led by architects Oscar Niemeyer and Hélio Uchôa, and provides an exhibition space of 30,000 m2. Academy Of Fine Arts In Warsaw
Academy of Fine Arts in Warsaw () is a public university of visual arts and applied arts located in the Polish capital. The academy traces its history back to the Department of Arts founded at the Warsaw University in the Duchy of Warsaw in 1812. As a separate institution it was founded in 1844 in Congress Poland. In an upgrade in 1904 it was named the Warsaw School of Fine Arts; and in 1932 it received recognition as an academy. At first the institute did not have its own building and classes were held in several locations around the city. Following an architectural competition a design by Alfons Gravier was chosen and construction began in 1911. The building was completed by the outbreak of the First World War.
