Halifax Northwest
Halifax Cobequid was a provincial electoral district (Canada), electoral district in Nova Scotia, Canada, that elected one member of the Nova Scotia House of Assembly. It was formed in 1956 as Halifax Northwest from part of the former district of Halifax West (provincial electoral district), Halifax West. In 1966, the district was renamed Halifax County North West, and the following year, in 1967 it was renamed Halifax Cobequid. George Riley (Nova Scotia Politician)
George Stuart Riley (November 18, 1922 – August 28, 2002) was a Canadian politician. He represented the electoral district of Halifax Cobequid in the Nova Scotia House of Assembly from 1970 to 1974. He was a member of the Nova Scotia Liberal Party. Riley was born in Vancouver, British Columbia. A businessman, he attended Daniel Mclntyre Collegiate and the University of Manitoba in Winnipeg. In 1944, he married Margaret Jane Abraham. Riley entered provincial politics in the 1970 election, defeating Progressive Conservative incumbent Gordon H. Fitzgerald by over 1000 votes in Halifax Cobequid. Ronald Manning Fielding
Ronald Manning Fielding (October 7, 1896 – March 1, 1972) was a Canadian politician. He represented the electoral districts of Halifax West and Halifax Northwest in the Nova Scotia House of Assembly from 1941 to 1960. He was a member of the Nova Scotia Liberal Party. Fielding was born in 1896 at Rockingham, Nova Scotia. He was educated at Dalhousie University, and was a lawyer by career. He was a municipal solicitor from 1931–1948, and a county prosecutor from 1933–1946. He married Marion Leck in 1945. Fielding entered provincial politics in the 1941 election, winning the Halifax West riding. He was re-elected in the 1945 and 1949 elections. In December 1949, Fielding was appointed to the Executive Council of Nova Scotia as Minister of Municipal Affairs. Fielding was re-elected in the 1953 election.
