Halhjem
Halhjem is a village in Bjørnafjorden municipality in Vestland county, Norway. The village is a suburb of the municipal centre of Osøyro, located immediately to the north. The village is the site of an important ferry quay along the European route E39 highway which runs between the major cities of Bergen (to the north) and Stavanger (to the south). The population of Halhjem in 1999 was 991, but since 2001 it is considered a part of the urban area of Osøyro. The ferry quay has two different ferry routes that stop here to cross the Bjørnafjorden. There is a ferry from Halhjem to Våge on the island of Tysnesøya in Tysnes municipality, to the southeast. European Route E39
European route E39 is the designation of a north–south road in Norway and Denmark from Klett, just south of Trondheim (city), Trondheim, to Aalborg via Bergen, Stavanger and Kristiansand. In total, there are nine ferries, more than any other single road in Europe. Osøyro
Osøyro (or Osøyri) is the administrative centre of Bjørnafjorden municipality in Vestland county, Norway. The village lies on the southwestern part of the Bergen Peninsula, along the western shore of the Fusafjorden, about south of the city centre of Bergen. The European route E39 highway runs through the village on its way to Bergen. There is a car ferry from the east side of Osøyro to the village of Fusa, across the Fusafjorden. Os Church is located in the village. Osøyro has several smaller suburban villages surrounding it: Søfteland to the north, Søvik to the northwest, Hagavik to the west, Søre Øyane to the southwest, and Halhjem to the south. Bjørnafjorden
Bjørnafjorden is a fjord in Vestland county, Norway. It runs through the municipalities of Austevoll, Bjørnafjorden, and Tysnes. The large island of Tysnesøya (and many small, surrounding islands such as Reksteren) lie along the south side of the Bjørnafjorden and the Bergen Peninsula and the mainland lie along the north and east sides of the fjord. The Fusafjorden (and the Samnangerfjorden which branches off it) split off from the main fjord on the north side by the village of Osøyro. The fjord is about wide and its maximum depth is below sea level.
