The 2024 North Carolina lieutenant gubernatorial election was held on November 5, 2024, to elect the lieutenant governor of North Carolina. Democratic Party (United States), Democratic state senator Rachel Hunt won her first term in office, defeating Republican Party (United States), Republican state official Hal Weatherman. She succeeded Republican incumbent Mark Robinson (American politician), Mark Robinson, who did not seek re-election in order to unsuccessfully 2024 North Carolina gubernatorial election, run for governor. In her party's primary, Hunt won the Democratic nomination with 70% of the vote over former state Senator Ben Clark (politician), Ben Clark and businessman Mark H. Robinson (no relation to the incumbent). Percentage Point
A percentage point or percent point is the unit (measurement), unit for the difference (mathematics), arithmetic difference between two percentages. For example, moving up from 40 percent to 44 percent is an increase of 4 percentage points (although it is a 10-percent increase in the quantity being measured, if the total amount remains the same). In written text, the unit (the percentage point) is usually either written out, or abbreviated as ''pp'', ''p.p.'', or ''%pt.'' to avoid confusion with percentage increase or decrease in the actual quantity. After the first occurrence, some writers abbreviate by using just "point" or "points".
