Hainan Classic
The Hainan Classic is a professional golf tournament held at Blackstone Course, Mission Hills Resort Haikou in Hainan Island, China. The event is played at the same venue which hosted the 2011 World Cup of Golf and feature on the China Tour and European Tour. Marco Penge won the inaugural event, beating Sean Crocker and Kristoffer Reitan Kristoffer Reitan (born 8 March 1998) is a Norwegian professional golfer and European Tour player. Hainan Island
Hainan is an island province and the southernmost province of China. It consists of the eponymous Hainan Island and various smaller islands in the South China Sea under the province's administration. The name literally means "South of the Sea". The European Tour, currently titled as the DP World Tour for sponsorship reasons, and legally the PGA European Tour or the European Tour Group, is the leading men's professional golf tour in Europe. The organisation also operates the European Senior Tour (for players aged 50 or older) and the developmental Challenge Tour; the second tier of men's professional golf in Europe. The tour's headquarters are at Wentworth Club in Virginia Water, Surrey, England. Stroke play is a scoring system in the sport of golf. In the regular form of stroke play, also known as medal play, the total number of strokes is counted over one or more rounds of 18 holes. In a regular stroke play competition, the winner is the player who has taken the fewest strokes over the course of the round, or rounds. Other forms of stroke play include Stableford, whereby points are gained based on hole scores, maximum score, in which there is a limit to the number of strokes that may be taken on each hole, and Par (golf scoring format), par (or bogey), where holes are won or lost against a target score on each hole. Marco Penge (born 15 May 1998) is an English professional golfer who currently plays on the European Tour. In 2023, he won the Open de Portugal and Rolex Challenge Tour Grand Final. Amateur career Penge was educated at The Forest School, Horsham. He started playing golf at five, and enjoyed success already at junior level. In 2013, he won the McGregor Trophy, the Fairhaven Trophy, and lost a playoff for the Irish Boys Amateur Open. 2011 World Cup Of Golf
The 2011 Omega Mission Hills World Cup was a golf tournament that took place 24–27 November on the Blackstone course at Mission Hills Haikou in Hainan, China. It was the 56th World Cup, and the first since 2009, when the tournament switched to being staged biennially. 28 countries competed as two player teams. The purse was increased from $5.5 million in 2009 to $7.5 million in 2011. The event was won by the United States, represented by Matt Kuchar and Gary Woodland with a score of 264, 24 under par. Qualification and format The leading 18 available players from different countries in the Official World Golf Ranking qualified automatically on 18 July. China Tour
The China Tour is a China-based men's professional golf tour run by the China Golf Association. History From 2014 to 2016 the tour was organised in conjunction with the PGA Tour China. In 2017 the two tours split and ran a separate schedule of events. Tournaments as part of the PGA Tour gained world ranking points from 2014 to 2016 but not in 2017. Events regained OWGR status in 2018. Since 2017, the Order of Merit winner has earnt a European Tour card for the following season. In January 2024, it was announced by the European Tour that they had formalised their strategic alliance with the China Golf Association. Sean Crocker
Sean Crocker (born August 31, 1996) is an American professional golfer who plays on the European Tour. Early life and amateur career Crocker was born in Harare, Zimbabwe. His father, Gary, was a test cricketer, who played for Zimbabwe from 1992 to 1993. They moved from Zimbabwe to California when Crocker was five due to political issues. He played collegiate golf for the University of Southern California, after transitioning from baseball to golf at the age of thirteen. In 2014, Crocker was co-medalist in the U.S. Junior Amateur and was a quarter finalist in the match play portion of the same tournament. Kristoffer Reitan (born 8 March 1998) is a Norwegian professional golfer and European Tour player. In 2018, he become the first Norwegian to play in the U.S. Open. He won the 2024 Rolex Challenge Tour Grand Final and the 2025 Belgian Open. Amateur career Reitan had a successful amateur career and won the Valderrama Boys Invitational, Italian International U16 Championship, Skandia Junior Open and the Junior Orange Bowl Championship. 2025 European Tour
The 2025 European Tour, titled as the 2025 DP World Tour for sponsorship reasons, is the 54th season of the European Tour, the main professional golf tour in Europe since its inaugural season in 1972. It is the fourth season of the tour under a title sponsorship agreement with DP World that was announced in November 2021.
