''Hail the Apocalypse'' is the fifth studio album by Swedish metal band Avatar, released on 13 May 2014. It is their first album to chart on the US Billboard 200, reaching number 97 and selling 3,500 copies in its first week. The album was mixed by Jay Ruston and mastered by Paul Logus. In December 2024, amidst a legal battle with their former record label, Avatar released a 7" single of "Tower", consisting of a piano version on the A-side and a live version on the B-side. ''Black Waltz'' is the fourth studio album by Swedish heavy metal band Avatar, released on 25 January 2012. (In the US, it was released on 14 February 2012.) It is the band's last album to feature long-time guitarist Simon Andersson, who left the band in February 2012 to focus on his studies. During the making of the "Black Waltz" music video, the band asked their makeup artist to come with something to make frontman Johannes Eckerström fit in with the characters, and she responded with the "Clown" face paint, which Eckerström is also seen wearing on the album cover. ''Feathers & Flesh'' is the sixth studio album by Swedish heavy metal band Avatar, released on 13 May 2016. A concept album, it is the story of an owl who goes to war to bring on an eternal night and the eagle, who represents the day, fighting to stop her. An extended 2CD version titled ''Feathers & Flesh (In His Own Words)'' was released on June 2, 2017. It consists of the regular album and 15 spoken word interludes told by Eckerström, expanding on the story told on the regular tracks.
