Rudolf John Gorsleben
Rudolf John Gorsleben (16 March 1883 – 23 August 1930) was a German Ariosophist, Armanist (practitioner of the Armanen runes), journal editor and playwright. Life Gorsleben was born in Metz. During World War I, he fought in a German unit stationed in the Ottoman Empire. He formed the Edda Society ('' Edda-Gesellschaft'') and wrote the book '' Hoch-Zeit der Menschheit'' ('' The Zenith of Humanity''), first published in 1930. It is known as "The Bible of Armanism" and has been translated into English by Karl Hans Welz. Wendehorn
Wendehorn is a pseudo-runic symbol resembling the Tvimadur symbol, akin to a historical bindrune, consisting of the equally pseudy-runic symbols of the ''Lebensrune'' ("life rune") ᛘ and ''Todesrune'' ᛦ ("death rune"), symbolizing 'life' and 'death' respectively. The term is due to Guido von List's ''Das Geheimnis der Runen'', where it does not figure as a full member of the Armanen runes, but is mentioned in the context of the crescent moon being "the rune of Freya, who promotes childbirth." It was taken up by List's Armanist followers, such as Rudolf John Gorsleben, and Siegfried Adolf Kummer and is still in use in Irminenschaft and Armanenschaft-inspired esotericism today ( Karl Spiesberger, Karl Hans Welz, Adolf Schleipfer, Larry E. Hexagonal Crystal System
In crystallography, the hexagonal crystal family is one of the six crystal family, crystal families, which includes two crystal systems (hexagonal and trigonal) and two lattice systems (hexagonal and rhombohedral). While commonly confused, the trigonal crystal system and the rhombohedral lattice system are not equivalent (see section hexagonal crystal family#Crystal systems, crystal systems below). Karl Spiesberger
Karl Spiesberger (29 October 1904 – 1 January 1992) was a German mystic, occultist, Germanic revivalist and Runosophist. He is best known for his revivalism and usage of the Sidereal Pendulum for divination and dowsing and for his anti-racialist stance and revivalist usage of the Armanen Futharkh runic system after the second world war, removing its negative connotations. During his involvement with the Fraternitas Saturni Spiesberger was also known as Frater Eratus. Under this name he published several articles in the ''Blätter für angewandte okkulte Lebenskunst''. Life Spiesberger's father worked as a gardener. Since his earliest youth Spiesberger was interested in occultism and hypnosis. In May 1932 he moved to Berlin to train for a career as an actor. Wilhelm Wulff
''Zodiac and Swastika: How Astrology Guided Hitler's Germany'' () is a 1968 book by Wilhelm Theodor H. Wulff (27 March 1892 - 9 June 1979). It was released in 1973 in the United States by Coward, McCann & Geoghegan and in the United Kingdom by Arthur Barker Limited of London. The English edition has a foreword by the historian Walter Laqueur. The historian Nicholas Goodrick-Clarke takes the book as evidence that Wulff was consulted by Heinrich Himmler in the last weeks of the war.('' The Occult Roots of Nazism'', p. 165) However, Goodrick-Clarke does not deal with Wulff's claim that as early as 1943 he got the assignment to locate Benito Mussolini, who had disappeared after being ousted from power. Werner Von Bülow
Ariosophy and Armanism are esoteric ideological systems that were largely developed by Jörg Lanz von Liebenfels and Guido von List, respectively, in Austria between 1890 and 1930. The term 'Ariosophy', which translates to ''wisdom of the Aryans'', was invented by Lanz von Liebenfels in 1915, and during the 1920s, it became the name of his doctrine. For research on the topic, such as Nicholas Goodrick-Clarke's book '' The Occult Roots of Nazism'', the term 'Ariosophy' is generically used to describe the Aryan/esoteric theories which constituted a subset of the ' Völkische Bewegung'. Friedrich Bernhard Marby
Friedrich Bernhard Marby (10 May 1882 – 3 December 1966) was a German rune occultist and Germanic revivalist. He is best known for his revivalism and use of the Armanen runes. Marby was imprisoned during the Third Reich, which may have been due to a denunciation by Karl Maria Wiligut. According to the Odinist magazine ''Vor Trú'', Marby "was one of the most (if not the most) important figures in the realm of runic sciences" with an impact felt not only by contemporaries but "among today's researchers and practitioners."''Vor Trú'', issue 69. Siegfried Adolf Kummer
Siegfried Adolf Kummer (24 September 1899 in Radeberg – 1977 in Dresden) was a German mystic and Germanic revivalist. He is also most well known for his revivalism and use of the Armanen runes row. He, along with Friedrich Bernhard Marby, were imprisoned during the Third Reich for being unauthorised occultists. Biography Little is known of his life or of his fate in the wake of the events of the Nazi era. Kummer, along with Friedrich Bernhard Marby, were criticized by name in a report made to Heinrich Himmler by his chief esoteric runologist Karl Maria Wiligut. Goodrick-Clarke states that they were ''"censured by Wiligut in his capacity as Himmler's counsellor on magical and religious subjects for bringing the holy Aryan heritage into disrepute and riducule and this criticism may have led to Marby's harsh treatment in the Third Reich."'' Pseudo-runes
Pseudo-runes are letters that look like Germanic runes but are not true ancient runes. The term is mostly used of incised characters that are intended to imitate runes, often visually or symbolically, sometimes even with no linguistic content, but it can also be used to describe characters of other written languages which resemble runes, for example: Old Turkic script, Old Hungarian script, Old Italic scripts. The term "pseudo-runes" has also been used for runes "invented" after the end of the period of runic epigraphy, used only in medieval manuscripts but not in inscriptions. Peryt Shou
Peryt Shou (legal name Albert Christian Georg örgSchultz) (22 April 1873 – 24 October 1953) was a German occultist, pagan revivalist and theosophist. He is mentioned briefly by Goodrick-Clarke ('' The Occult Roots of Nazism'', 1985: 165) as a writer of novels with occult themes and a significant figure in the post-World War I German occult movement. During Nazi Germany, he apparently went without being persecuted. Biography Shou was born the son of an innkeeper in Kröslin near Wolgast in Pomerania. He studied in Berlin and devoted himself to poetry, painting and eventually the secret sciences. During the course of his career he authored some forty books, most of which have been forgotten and lost in obscurity. However, he remains one of the most important esotericists of 20th-century Germany.
