Hackney Wick Railway Station
Hackney Wick is a station on the Mildmay line of the London Overground, located in the district of Hackney Wick, East London. Situated in Travelcard Zone 2, the station was opened on 12 May 1980 by British Rail as part of the Crosstown Linkline service between and stations. Between Spring 2017 and May 2018, the station was rebuilt and modernised, including replacement of the footbridge by a subway. The new subway links the two platforms as well as providing a cycle and pedestrian link between Hackney and Tower Hamlets. London Overground (also known simply as the Overground) is a Urban rail in the United Kingdom, suburban rail network serving London and its environs. Established in 2007 to take over Silverlink Metro routes, it now serves a large part of Greater London as well as Hertfordshire, with 113 stations on the six lines that make up the network. Primuline is a dye containing the benzothiazole ring system. Primuline itself is also known as Direct yellow 59 or C.I. 49000. The primulines are considered derivatives of dehydrothiotoluidine (aminobenzenyltoluylmercaptan), which is obtained when para-toluidine is heated with sulfur for eighteen hours at 180–190 °C and then for a further six hours at 200–220 °C Dehydrothiotoluidine is not itself a dye-stuff, but if the heating is carried out at a higher temperature in the presence of more sulfur, then a base is formed, which gives primuline yellow upon sulfonation. Primuline yellow is a mixture of sodium salts and probably contains at least three thiazole rings in combination. Raphael Meldola FRS (19 July 1849 – 16 November 1915) was a British chemist and entomologist. He was Professor of Organic Chemistry in the University of London, 1912–15. Life Born in Islington, London, he was descended from Raphael Meldola (1754–1828), a theologian who was acting minister of the Spanish and Portuguese Jews in London, 1804. Meldola was the only son of Samuel Meldola; married (1886) Ella Frederica, daughter of Maurice Davis of London. He was educated in chemistry at the Royal College of Chemistry, London. The Hackney Cut is an artificial channel of the Lee Navigation built in England in 1769 by the River Lea Trustees to straighten and improve the Navigation. It begins at the Middlesex Filter Beds Weir, below Lea Bridge, and is situated in the (modern) London Borough of Hackney.
