Thomas Hackney
Thomas Hackney (December 11, 1861 – December 24, 1946) was a U.S. Representative from Missouri. Born near Campbellsville, Tennessee, Hackney moved with his parents to Jackson County, Illinois, in 1864. He attended the common schools of Jackson County, the Southern Illinois Normal University at Carbondale, and the University of Missouri. He studied law. He was admitted to the bar September 18, 1886, and commenced practice in Carthage, Missouri. He was also interested in zinc and lead mines in the Joplin district. He served as member of the State house of representatives in 1901. Hackney was elected as a Democrat to the Sixtieth Congress (March 4, 1907 – March 3, 1909). Simon John Hackney (born 5 February 1984) is an former English footballer who recently played for Northwich Victoria. Club career Carlisle United Hackney joined Nantwich Town in November 2001, leaving for Woodley Sports in the summer of 2003. He impressed on trial from the non-league outfit, scoring two goals in two games for the reserves, he signed for Carlisle United in February 2005. Francis Sheldon Hackney (December 5, 1933 – September 12, 2013) was a prominent American educator. He was the Boies Professor of United States History at the University of Pennsylvania. Early life Hackney was born in Birmingham, Alabama in 1933, and educated in the Birmingham public school system. He was a graduate of Ramsay High School. After graduating from Vanderbilt University, Hackney earned his Ph.D. in American History at Yale University, where he worked with eminent Southern historian C. Vann Woodward.
