HaShidur HaMefutzal
HaShidur HaMefutzal (; "The split broadcast") was the name given to a decision in 2002 by the Israeli broadcasting company Telad to broadcast reports from a suicide attack in Jerusalem side-by-side with an ongoing football match. This decision is considered an Israeli milestone on the collision between television ratings and national responsibility, as well as with the issue of dealing with terror. Broadcast On 2 March 2002, a football match was played between Maccabi Haifa (then at the top of the Israeli Premier League) and Maccabi Kiryat Gat (then at the bottom of the same league). The Telad broadcasting company aired the game live on Israel's Channel 2. Thirty minutes into the game, Kiriat Gat was leading with a score of 3-0, in what seemed as one of the extraordinary matches for years. Telad is an Israeli production company. The company is mostly known for being one of the three concessionaires whom ran the Israeli commercial television channel Channel 2 between the years 1993–2005. History The company was founded in the 1960s as a small production company in Jerusalem named "Idan" and provided services to the Israeli channel 1 and to TV stations worldwide. "Idan" was reestablished in 1973 into "Telad" as part of a joint establishment with the Israeli investment firm Israel Discount Bank. Suicide Attack
A suicide attack is any violent attack, usually entailing the attacker detonating an explosive, where the attacker has accepted their own death as a direct result of the attacking method used. Suicide attacks have occurred throughout history, often as part of a military campaign (as with the Japanese ''kamikaze'' pilots of 1944–1945 during World War II), and more recently as part of terrorist campaigns (such as the September 11 attacks in 2001). Channel 2 ( he, ערוץ שתיים, Arutz Shtaim), also called "The Second Channel" ( he, הערוץ השני, HaArutz HaSheni) was an Israeli commercial television channel. It started doing experimental broadcasts funded by the television tax.
