H Gallery
H Gallery was an art gallery in Bang Rak District, Bangkok, Thailand. It was located in a beautiful 125-year-old Anglo-Thai mansion.. According to the gallery's Facebook site it has closed the exhibition space on Sathorn road in May 2020. Established in 2002 by American-born Ernest H. Lee, the two-storey gallery specialises in contemporary art with a mostly Asian focus. H Gallery began working with the Irish-born art critic and curator Brian Curtin in 2011. Curtin inaugurated H Project Space, on the second floor, as a venue for experimental projects including performance, and he continues to also curate much of the main program. 2012 saw the opening of H Gallery Chiang Mai, in Northern Thailand, with an installation of paintings by the Thai artist Mit Jai-Inn. Sopheap Pich
Sopheap Pich (; born 1971) is a Cambodian American contemporary artist. His sculptures utilize traditional Cambodian materials, which reflect the history of the nation and the artist's relation to his identity. Early work and influences Sopheap Pich was born in Battambang, Cambodia (then known as the Khmer Republic) in 1971. He grew up and survived the Khmer Rouge while a child in Cambodia, in 1984 he moved at age 13 to the United States of America. In 7th grade in the U.S., he enrolled into a school with a classroom setting and a teacher for the first time. He continued with his education at the University of Massachusetts Amherst, and in 2002 got his MFA at School of the Art Institute of Chicago. Michael Shaowanasai
Michael Shaowanasai () (born 1964) is a Thai-American artist and actor who lives in Bangkok, Thailand. His works includes performance art, photography, video, film and installations. Openly gay, his works are often provocative, such as photographic portrait of himself as a Buddhist monk made up to look like a woman. Active as an artist since 1997, his works have featured in international exhibitions since 1999, and his work is held in major collections. Early life and education Shaowanasai was born in 1964 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, United States. He graduated from School of Law at Chulalongkorn University in 1985, earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree at San Francisco Art Institute (which included filmmaking) in 1994 and a Master of Fine Arts from the Art Institute of Chicago in 1996.
