HTM Personenvervoer
HTM Personenvervoer NV (HTM, from the former name Haagsche Tramweg Maatschappij) is a public transport company in the Netherlands operating trams, lightrail and buses in The Hague, Rijswijk, Leidschendam, Voorburg, Delft, Zoetermeer, Wateringen, Pijnacker and Nootdorp, the so-called Conurbation Haaglanden. The lightrail connection (called RandstadRail, RR) to Zoetermeer is operated in cooperation with RET, the Rotterdam-public transport company, which operates the connection between The Hague Central Station and Slinge in the south of Rotterdam, thus giving a fast and easy connection between the two city-centres. Regional transports are serviced by Connexxion, Arriva and RET. In September 2012 it was announced that Dutch Railways (NS) wanted to acquire a 49% stake in HTM. Rotterdamse Elektrische Tram
Rotterdamse Elektrische Tram (RET; ) is the main public transport operator in Rotterdam, Netherlands. It started in 1905 when they took over the city tram lines from RTM (Rotterdamsche Tramweg Maatschappij). It currently operates 64 bus lines, 11 tram lines and five Rapid transit, metro/light rail lines in Rotterdam and the surrounding Municipalities in the Netherlands, municipalities. RET used to employ the National tariff system (Netherlands), national tariff system, like other local transport companies in the Netherlands. On 29 January 2009, fares on the metro switched to using an OV-chipkaart; bus and tram fares followed on 11 February 2010. The Siemens Avenio is a low floor tram family produced by Siemens Mobility, a subsidiary of the German conglomerate Siemens. It is the successor to the Combino family. The first generation was sold as the Combino Supra , Combino MkII, or Combino Plus. With the introduction of the second generation in 2009 the Combino brand was dropped and Siemens have referred to Combino Plus trams in Almada (Portugal) and Budapest (Hungary) as part of the Avenio range. The Avenio is made of stainless steel instead of light materials, and is manufactured at a new assembly line in Vienna. Like the Combino it utilizes a modular design with standardised components, with resulting reduced costs. National Tariff System
The national tariff system ( or nationale vervoerbewijzen/NVB) is a ticketing and zoning scheme for local public transport in the Netherlands. It was designed as a nationwide scheme but is being phased out (see section on validity, below) and replaced by the OV-chipkaart. With the abolition of the ''strippenkaart'' (strip card) on 3 November 2011, only the ''sterabonnement'' (Star subscription) remains organized under the national tariff system. The system does not apply to Dutch Railways (NS), which have their own pricing regime; however, there are limited sections of railway (generally in urban areas or on non- NS lines) on which the system is valid. Validity The national tariff system applies on most local bus and tram routes, with the exception of special tourist and leisure services, express services, night buses; and ''buurtbussen'', which are neighbourhood services run by volunteers.
