The White Ensign, at one time called the St George's Ensign because of the simultaneous existence of a crossless version of the flag, is an ensign (flag), ensign worn on British Royal Navy ships and shore establishments. Ayrshire Dockyard Company
Ayrshire (, ) is a historic county and registration county, in south-west Scotland, located on the shores of the Firth of Clyde. The lieutenancy area of Ayrshire and Arran covers the entirety of the historic county as well as the island of Arran, formerly part of the historic county of Buteshire. Hunt-class Minesweeper (1916)
The Hunt-class minesweeper was a class of minesweeping sloop built between 1916 and 1919 for the Royal Navy. They were built in two discrete groups, the earlier ''Belvoir'' group designed by the Ailsa Shipbuilding Company and the subsequent (and slightly larger) ''Aberdare'' group designed by the Admiralty. They were classed as Fleet Minesweeping Sloops, that is ships intended to clear open water. The ''Belvoir'' group were named after British fox hunts. Those of the ''Aberdare'' group were originally named after coastal towns, watering places and fishing ports, some of which happened to be hunts by coincidence. However, all were soon renamed after inland locations to prevent confusion caused by the misunderstanding of signals and orders. The terms may have different meanings depending on their usage in another country's military. BD Between decks: applies to a naval gun mounting in which part of the rotating mass is below the deck, and part of it is above the deck.
