HMD Barbie Phone
HMD Barbie Phone is a mobile phone developed by HMD Global in collaboration with Mattel as a Barbie-themed flip phone. It was released in some territories as early as 28 August 2024. In the US, it started shipping on 1 October 2024. There are two distinct versions of the phone: one for the international market that is based on the Nokia 2660 Flip and a different one for the American market based on Nokia 2780 Flip which has improved specifications. Features The Barbie Phone has a 2.8 inch display as well as a 1.77 inch external display that displays the clock on top of a glossy exterior. The design is based on the Nokia 2660 Flip but heavily modified to fit the Barbie theme. Barbie symbols are shown when the keypad lights are illuminated. HMD Global
HMD Global (Human Mobile Devices) is a Finnish independent mobile phone manufacturer. The company is made up of the mobile phone business that the Nokia, Nokia Corporation sold to Microsoft in 2014, then bought back in 2016 by former executives who formed HMD Global. HMD began marketing Nokia-branded smartphones and feature phones on 1 December 2016, through an exclusive licensing agreement, and began producing self-branded HMD phones in March 2024. HMD formed with a partnership with Google, and uses the Android (operating system), Android operating system under the Android One program on their smartphones, whereas HMD's Feature phone, feature phones use the Series 30+ platform as well as the more advanced KaiOS. Clamshell design is a form factor commonly used in the design of electronic devices and other manufactured objects. It is inspired by the morphology of the clam. The form factor has been applied to handheld game consoles, mobile phones (where it is often called a "flip phone"), and especially laptop computers. Clamshell devices are usually made of two sections connected by a hinge, each section containing either a flat panel display or an alphanumeric keyboard/keypad, which can fold into contact together like a bivalve shell.
