Habitat International Coalition
Habitat International Coalition (HIC) is an independent, nonprofit alliance with hundreds of organizations and individuals, which has been working in housing and human settlements for more than 30 years. The Coalition comprises social movements, community-based organizations, support groups and academics. The strength of the Coalition is based on its worldwide membership (it has members in 117 nations in five continents) and on the fact that it brings together a range of civil society groups. Dedicated to advocacy and support for the poor, solidarity networking, popular mobilization, debate and analysis, HIC works to unite civil society in a shared commitment to ensuring sustainable habitat and a livable planet for all. Its work focuses on defending and implementing the human rights linked to housing and habitat; i.e., land, housing, clean water, sanitation, a healthy environment, access to public goods and services (e.g., health, education, transport and recreation; access to ...

Hybrid Integrated Circuit
A hybrid integrated circuit (HIC), hybrid microcircuit, hybrid circuit or simply hybrid is a miniaturized electronic circuit constructed of individual devices, such as semiconductor devices (e.g. transistors, diodes or Integrated circuits, monolithic ICs) and passive components (e.g. resistors, inductors, transformers, and capacitors), bonded to a substrate or printed circuit board (PCB). A PCB having components on a Printed wiring board (PWB) is not considered a true hybrid circuit according to the definition of MIL-PRF-38534. Overview "Integrated circuit", as the term is currently used, usually refers to a monolithic IC which differs notably from a HIC in that a HIC is fabricated by inter-connecting a number of components on a substrate whereas an IC's (monolithic) components are fabricated in a series of steps entirely on a single wafer which is then diced into chips. Some hybrid circuits may contain monolithic ICs, particularly Multi-chip module (MCM) hybrid circuits. Hyb ...

Head Injury Criterion
The head injury criterion (HIC) is a measure of the likelihood of head injury arising from an impact. The HIC can be used to assess safety related to vehicles, personal protective gear, and sport equipment. Normally the variable is derived from the measurements of an accelerometer mounted at the center of mass of a crash test dummy A crash test dummy, or simply dummy, is a full-scale Anthropomorphism, anthropomorphic test device (ATD) that simulates the dimensions, weight proportions and articulation of the human body during a traffic collision. Dummies are used by researc ...’s head, when the dummy is exposed to crash forces. It is defined as: \mathit\mathit\mathit = \max_ \bigg\ where ''t''1 and ''t''2 are the initial and final times (in seconds) chosen to maximize HIC, and acceleration ''a'' is measured in ''g''s (standard gravity acceleration). The time duration, ''t''2 – ''t''1, is limited to a maximum value of 36 ms, usually 15 ms. This means that the ...

Heart Institute Of The Caribbean
The Heart Institute of the Caribbean is a cardiac hospital and care institute on the island of Jamaica, specializing in cardiology, cardiovascular medicine, and cardiovascular surgery. The Heart Institute was founded in 2005 by cardiologist Ernest Madu. Headquartered in Kingston, Jamaica, the Heart Institute of the Caribbean also operates additional branches in Mandeville, Montego Bay, and Ocho Rios. In 2018, the Heart Institute established the first cardiac intensive care unit and heart surgery operating theatre on the island of Jamaica. In 2017 the hospital was awarded the "International Service Award" from the American College of Cardiology The American College of Cardiology (ACC), based in Washington, D.C., is a nonprofit medical association established in 1949. It bestows credentials upon cardiovascular specialists who meet its qualifications. Education is a core component of the .... Hipparcos Input Catalogue
''Hipparcos'' was a scientific satellite of the European Space Agency (ESA), launched in 1989 and operated until 1993. It was the first space experiment devoted to precision astrometry, the accurate measurement of the positions and distances of celestial objects on the sky. This permitted the first high-precision measurements of the intrinsic brightnesses, proper motions, and parallaxes of stars, enabling better calculations of their distance and tangential velocity. When combined with radial velocity measurements from spectroscopy, astrophysicists were able to finally measure all six quantities needed to determine the motion of stars. The resulting ''Hipparcos Catalogue'', a high-precision catalogue of more than 118,200 stars, was published in 1997. The lower-precision ''Tycho Catalogue'' of more than a million stars was published at the same time, while the enhanced Tycho-2 Catalogue of 2.5 million stars was published in 2000. ''Hipparcos'' follow-up mission, ''Gaia'', was lau ...
