HC Diavoli Rossoneri Milano was an ice hockey team in Milan, Italy. They played in the Serie A, the top level of ice hockey in Italy. History The club was founded in 1933 and won their first of four Serie A championships in 1935. They also won the Spengler Cup three times, the first of them being in 1934. They merged with HC Milano in 1937, a merger which lasted until 1941. After World War II the club became independent again. This lasted until 1956, when financial problems forced another merger with HC Milano. Italian Hockey League Serie A, formerly known as Serie A, is the top tier of professional ice hockey in Italy, which first began play in 1925. They are conducted under the authority of the Federazione Italiana Sport del Ghiaccio (FISG). The league initially merged with the Inter-National League to become the Alps Hockey League in 2016. The Spengler Cup is an annual invitational ice hockey tournament held in Davos, Switzerland. First held in 1923, the Spengler Cup is often cited as the oldest invitational ice hockey tournament in the world. The event is hosted by the Swiss team HC Davos and played each year in Davos from 26 December to 31 inclusively. Currently, all games are held at the Eisstadion Davos. It was originally devised by Dr. Carl Spengler as a means to promote teams from German-speaking Europe, who might have suffered ostracism in the aftermath of World War I. Hockey Club Milano was an Italian ice hockey team based in Milan. Throughout its history, the team has changed its name twice. It was previously called Associazione Disco Ghiaccio Milano (1936–1937) and Hockey Club Milano Inter (1950–1956). It bore the name Hockey Club Milano for the longest consecutive and longest composite times (1924–1936, 1946–1950). The club was founded in 1924 and finally folded in 1956.
