HCJB-TV, also branded as La Ventana de los Andes (The Window of the Andes) was an Ecuadorian television station owned by the HCJB radio ministry. It was the first television station of any sort to exist in Ecuador. History In 1954, Gillford "Giff" Hartwell arrived voluntarily to Ecuador to deliver equipment for a television station to be owned by HCJB, which would be used to expand its extant operations. Later, on July 25, 1959, Dick Benoit and Kerm Beougher, distributed several television receivers in several areas of Quito and on the 28th of the same month HCJB-TV made its first experimental broadcast, carrying movies dubbed in Spanish and provided by the United States Embassy, to great public acclaim. On July 30, the station formally identified itself with its call letters borrowed from the radio station (HCJB) and the name ''La Ventana de los Andes''. RTS (Ecuador)
RedTeleSistema (RTS), is a private television station in Ecuador. The channel is owned by Albavisión. The channel is the oldest television station to operate in Ecuador since its inception; HCJB-TV signed on in Quito in 1959 but shut down in 1972. History What is now RTS was the first television station in Guayaquil. In 1959, José Rosenbaum bought some equipment from his native Germany. After a few experiments the station signed on for the first time on December 12, 1960, running from 5pm to 10pm every evening. Rosenbaum cleared channel 4 in Guayaquil; in Quito, he planned to clear channel 11, 12 or 13. The station was operated by Organizaciones Norlop, who signed an agreement with the American network ABC, who owned one third of the shares. HCJB
HCJB, "The Voice of the Andes", was the first radio station with daily programming in Ecuador and the first Christian missionary radio station in the world. The station was founded in 1931 by Clarence W. Jones, Reuben Larson, and D. Stuart Clark. HCJB now focuses on Ecuador with unified programming on FM at 89.3 Hertz, MHz in Pichincha Province, Pichincha, at 92.5 MHz in Manabí Province, Manabí, at 96.1 MHz in Tungurahua Province, Tungurahua and Cotopaxi Province, Cotopaxi, at 98.3 MHz in Esmeraldas Province, Esmeraldas and with separate programming on AM at 690 kHz. Teleamazonas is an Ecuadorian television network that was launched on 22 February 1974. It is one of the major television networks in the country. It was founded by Antonio Granda Centeno and has two feeds: one produced in Quito and broadcast in the rest of the country, and the other one produced in and available in Guayaquil and Guayas. Camilo Ponce Enríquez (politician)
Camilo Ponce Enríquez (31 January 1912 in Quito – 13 September 1976) was an Ecuadorian political figure. He served as the 30th President of Ecuador between 1956 and 1960. He was married to Dolores Marta Gracia de Gangotena y Jijón. Ponce initially ran in the presidential election of 1948, but only came in third place. ''Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer'' is a 1964 stop motion Christmas animated television special produced by Videocraft International, Ltd. It first aired December 6, 1964, on the NBC television network in the United States and was sponsored by General Electric under the umbrella title of ''The General Electric Fantasy Hour''.
