Gʻuzor
Gʻuzor (; ; ; ) is a city in Qashqadaryo Region in southern Uzbekistan. It serves as the administrative center of Gʻuzor District. Its population is 24,500 (2016). The town is home to a Polish war cemetery, one of many along the route that Anders' Army, General Anders' army took during the World War II, Second World War. Population History Guzar was one of the most important cities of the Khanate of Bukhara. During World War II, in 1942, the organizational center of the Polish Anders' Army was based in Gʻuzor. Many Polish soldiers and civilians died there to epidemic, and there is a List of Polish war cemeteries, Polish Military Cemetery. The status of the city was assigned in 1977 (before that - a village). Geography Located southeast of Karshi on the river Gʻuzordaryo, a tributary of the Kashkadarya. Qashqadaryo Region is one of the regions of Uzbekistan, located in the south-eastern part of the country in the basin of the river Qashqadaryo (river), Qashqadaryo and on the western slopes of the Pamir-Alay mountains. It borders with Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Samarqand Region, Bukhara Region and Surxondaryo Region. It covers an area of 28,570 km2. FC Shurtan Guzar () is a professional football club based in G‘uzor, Uzbekistan. History During its first years, the club played in the lower divisions of Uzbekistan. In 2006 FC Shurtan made its debut in the Uzbek League. The 2010 season was the club's most successful, finishing 4th in the league and as runners-up in the Uzbek Cup. In the quarter-final of the Uzbek Cup, they beat Pakhtakor on aggregate and Lokomotiv Tashkent in the semi-final. Shurtan lost in the final, played in Tashkent, to Bunyodkor. The final score was 0–1.
