Gunter Rig
Gunter rig is a configuration of sail and spars used in sailing. It is a Fore-and-aft rig, fore and aft sail set abaft (behind) the mast. The lower half of the luff (front) of the sail is attached to the mast, and the upper half is fastened to a Spar (sailing), spar which is approximately vertical and reaches above the top of the mast. This spar is called a "yard", but it is common for some to confuse it with a "gaff" (as in gaff rig). The overall shape of a gunter sail is roughly triangular, so having a superficial resemblance to Bermuda rig. A gunter sail may also be called a "gunter lug" - a name which suggests developmental origins from increasing the angle of a high peaked Lug sail#Types, standing lug. Sir Robert Gunter, 1st Baronet (2 November 1831 – 17 September 1905) was a British Army officer, property developer and Conservative Party (UK), Conservative Party politician who sat in the House of Commons of the United Kingdom, House of Commons from 1885 to 1905. Biography Gunter was the son of Robert Gunter of Earl's Court, London and his wife Fanny Thompson, daughter of E. Thompson of Durham. His grandfather James Gunter was a confectioner of Gunter's Tea Shop whose purchases led to the development of some 60 acres of land in West London. Günter Behnisch (12 June 1922 – 12 July 2010) was a German architect, born in Lockwitz, near Dresden. During the Second World War he became one of Germany's youngest submarine commanders. Subsequently, Behnisch became one of the most prominent architects representing deconstructivism. Günter Helmut Baumann (born 1 August 1947 in Annaberg-Buchholz, Saxony) is a German politician and member of the Christian Democratic Union (Germany), CDU. An engineer by profession, Baumann has been a member of the Christian Democratic Union (East Germany) since 1972 until that party merged with its West German counterpart in 1990. Günter Baum (born 1960) is an openly gay man, who founded two Christian ministries in Germany. The first organization which Baum founded was Wüstenstrom, which is part of the ex-gay movement. The organization's program was originally based on the U.S. program Desert Stream Ministries, though the group has since changed its philosophy. Eventually, Baum left "Wüstenstrom". Baum later founded an organization called Zwischenraum. Zwischenraum is not part of the ex-gay movement, and associates do not attempt to change the sexual orientation of anyone. Instead, Zwischenraum accepts LGBT people as they are, and helps LGBT people who hold evangelical theological beliefs to reconcile these two potentially conflicting parts of their identities. Günter Asser (26 February 1926, Berlin – 23 March 2015) was a professor emeritus of logic and mathematics at the University of Greifswald. He published numerous volumes on philosophers and mathematicians. His own research was in computability theory. In 1954, with his doctoral advisor Karl Schröter, he co-founded the journal ''Zeitschrift für Mathematische Logik und Grundlagen der Mathematik'', which later became ''Mathematical Logic Quarterly''. Günter Anderl (11 January 1947 – 10 October 2015) was an Austrian figure skater who competed in men's singles. He was the 1968 Winter Universiade bronze medalist, 1969 Nebelhorn Trophy champion, and a three-time Austrian national champion (1969–1971). He competed at two Winter Olympics, in 1968 and 1972. Günter Altner (20 September 1936 – 6 December 2011) was a German interdisciplinary active scientist, biologist, Protestant theologian, ecologist, environmentalist, writer and lecturer. Altner had briefly been a professor of human biology at the University of Education Schwäbisch Gmünd, subsequently focussed on theology, his second area of education, and was a professor of protestant theology at the University of Koblenz and Landau for 22 years. Altner is known for his teaching and lectures, his numerous books, his role of co-founder and curator of the Öko-Institut and his activity as political advisor to the German government.
