Araban
Araban ( ku, Qale) is a district and town of Gaziantep Province of Turkey. The population is 9,863 as of 2010. History The city was historically known as Raban. In October/November 958, the Byzantine Empire led by John Tzimiskes and Basil Lekapenos managed to defeat Sayf al-Dawla of the Hamdanids at the Battle of Raban. Raban was ruled by the Armenian ruler Kogh Vasil, following the First Crusade in 1097. It was captured by Kilij Arslan II in 1148–1150, then by Nur ad-Din in 1155. In 1268, King Hethum I had to surrendered several fortresses including Raban to Baibars, who had imprisoned Hethum's son, Leo, following the Battle of Mari. Gaziantep Province ( tr, ) is a province in south-central Turkey. It is located in the westernmost part of Turkey's Southeastern Anatolia Region and partially in the Mediterranean Region. Qiziq (tribe)
Qiziq ( tr, Kızık), also spelled Qïzïq, Qyzyk, or Qyzyq, is an Oghuz and Turkmen tribe. The tribe mainly inhabits the provinces of Gaziantep, Kahramanmaraş, Bursa, Tokat, and Ankara in Turkey. History Qiziq was listed as one of the 24 Oghuz tribes in ''Jami' al-tawarikh'' by Rashid al-Din Hamadani but was included as a Khalaj tribe by Mahmud al-Kashgari. Carsten Niebuhr mentioned that Qiziqs lived around Aintab with 2000 tents in mid-18th century. Until the late 19th century, the tribe's region of settlement within the sanjak of Aintab was under the administration of Qiziq or ''Kazak'' nahiya.
