Górnik Katowice
GKS Katowice is a professional ice hockey team in Katowice, Poland. The team was founded in 1964. GKS Katowice won six Polska Liga Hokejowa titles between 1958 and 1970. From 2017 to 2019 the name of the club was changed to Tauron KH GKS Katowice, due to sponsorship by Tauron Group. The club finished the regular season 2021-2022 in 1st place and won the playoffs by defeating KH Zagłębie Sosnowiec, Zagłębie Sosnowiec, GKS Tychy (ice hockey), GKS Tychy and Unia Oświęcim. Champions Hockey League
The Champions Hockey League is a European first-level ice hockey tournament. Launched in the 2014–15 season by 26 clubs, 6 leagues and the International Ice Hockey Federation (IIHF), the tournament features top teams across Europe. Background The IIHF launched a tournament with the same name in 2008 to coincide with the IIHF's 100th anniversary. The tournament's only season was played between 8 October 2008 and 28 January 2009, and was won by the ZSC Lions who got to play in the 2009 Victoria Cup game as a result. The IIHF planned to launch another season but was ultimately forced to cancel the tournament due to problems finding sponsors during the concurrent global economic crisis and failure to agree on a tournament format. Carl Hudson (born January 2, 1986) is a Canadian professional ice hockey defenceman. He is currently playing with Polska Hokej Liga side GKS Katowice. Hudson was most recently signed to ETC Crimmitschau in the German DEL2. Career Prior to turning professional, Hudson attended Canisius College where he played four seasons with the Canisius Golden Griffins men's ice hockey team in the Atlantic Hockey conference. On July 9, 2010, Hudson was signed as a free agent by the Florida Panthers to an entry-level contract. John Murray (born July 4, 1987) is an American- Polish professional ice hockey goaltender currently playing for GKS Katowice in the Polska Hokej Liga. In 2014, he won the PHL playoff championship with Ciarko PBS Bank KH Sanok and again in 2018 and 2019 with GKS Tychy. He also plays for the Poland men's national ice hockey team. Playing career Junior Murray played minor hockey with the Philadelphia Jr. Flyers until the age of 16. At 16 years of age, Murray left home for Youngstown, Ohio, to play for the North American Hockey League's Youngstown Phantoms. He played in 21 games that season. For the next two seasons, Murray played for the United States Hockey League's Sioux Falls Stampede, where his teammates included T. J. Oshie, Andreas Nödl, Jay Barriball and Alex Kangas.
