Géza Varga (tennis)
Géza Varga (born 15 November 1944) is a Hungarian former professional tennis player. He was the Hungarian national champion in 1982. A right-handed player, Varga competed on the professional tour from the late 1960s through the 1970s. Varga featured in the singles main draw of the French Open on three occasions, including in 1971 when he won a set against second seed Arthur Ashe. The 1972 Dutch Open was a combined men's and women's tennis tournament staged at 't Melkhuisje in Hilversum, Netherlands. The tournament was played on outdoor clay courts and was held from 1 August until 7 August 1972. The ITF Grand Prix Circuit was a professional tennis tour for male players founded in 1970 as the ILTF Grand Prix Tennis Circuit it was administered by the International Tennis Federation (ITF) and ran annually until 1989 when it and the rival WCT Circuit were replaced by a single world wide ATP Tour. Arthur Ashe
Arthur Robert Ashe Jr. (July 10, 1943 – February 6, 1993) was an American professional tennis player. He won three Grand Slam (tennis)#Tournaments, Grand Slam titles in singles and two in doubles. Ashe was the first Black player selected to the United States Davis Cup team, and the only Black man ever to win the singles titles at Wimbledon Championships, Wimbledon, the US Open (tennis), US Open, and the Australian Open. He retired in 1980. Ashe was ranked World number 1 ranked male tennis players, world No. 1 by Rex Bellamy, Bud Collins, Judith Elian, Lance Tingay, ''World Tennis'' and ''Tennis Magazine'' (U.S.) in 1975.
