Gérard Niding
Gérard Niding (1924–2011) was a Canadian politician and a City Councillor in Montreal, Quebec. City Councillor He was elected to Montreal's City Council in 1954 as a Civic Action League candidate in the district of Papineau. He was defeated in 1957 and joined the Civic Party of Montreal in 1960. He was re-elected in that year, as well as in 1962 and 1966. Civic Action League
The Civic Action League () was a municipal political party in Montreal, Quebec, Canada. It existed from 1951 to 1961. Origins It was established in January 1951 by good government activists who were known as the ''Public Morality Committee''. Accomplishments The party managed to elect a plurality of the city councillors in 1954 and its candidate Jean Drapeau became Mayor. However the majority of the City Council was made up of Independents and often blocked legislation proposed by the League. Nonetheless, the League introduced party politics in Montreal's city government and abolished council seats reserved for businesses, city associations and agencies. The Civic Party of Montreal () was a municipal political party in Montreal, Quebec, Canada. It existed from 1960 to 1994. Throughout its history, the Civic Party was dominated by the personality of its leader Jean Drapeau. Origins It was established in September 1960 when 17 out of the 33 '' Civic Action League'' () Councillors, led by Jean Drapeau, crossed the floor to create a new party. Lucien Saulnier, (July 25, 1916 – June 22, 1989) was a Canadian politician. He was chair of the Montreal Urban Community during the October Crisis. He was also chairman and chief executive officer of the Société de développement industriel du Québec. Saulnier was elected to the Montreal City Council in 1954, working with the ''Ligue d'Action Civique''. In 1960, he co-founded Montreal's Civic Party with Jean Drapeau. From 1960 to 1969, Saulnier was the chair of the executive committee and was head of the Montreal Urban Community. Following the award of Expo 67 to Montreal, Saulnier pushed for the construction of the Yellow Line to serve the site. In 1972, he left politics and held positions with public agencies including Hydro-Québec. Yvon Lamarre (2 February 1935 – 2 June 2020) was a Canadian politician and a City Councillor in Montreal, Quebec. Lamarre was born and brought up in the Cote St. Paul district of Montreal.
