Bernhard Gál
Bernhard Gál (born 1971) is an Austrian artist, composer and musicologist. Biography Bernhard Gál (a.k.a. Gal) works between the categories, creating music for instruments and Electro-acoustic music, electro-acoustic compositions, as well as installation art, art installations. Many of his intermedia art projects and sound installations present combinations of sound, light, objects, video projections and spatial concepts. He is director of the Austrian art organization "sp ce" and runs the record label Gromoga Records. Gál's work has been presented in concerts, installations and exhibitions throughout Europe, Asia and The Americas. Minya Csaba Gál (born Cluj-Napoca, 7 March 1985) is a Romanian rugby union footballer. He plays a centre. Gál first played at U Cluj, moving to Dinamo Bucharest, in 2004. He currently plays for CSM Baia Mare. He also plays internationally for București Oaks in the European Challenge Cup. He was selected for the Romania squad that played at the 2007 Rugby World Cup. The Romanian centre played in three matches during the competition. He also competed at the 2011 Rugby World Cup. In 2015 he returned to his training club, "U" Cluj, and became the captain. Gyula Gál (born 18 August 1976 in Várpalota) is a retired Hungarian handball player. He made his international debut on 15 March 1999 against France. Gál suffered a torn knee ligament in April 2009 and since then he was struggling to fight back into the first team of MKB Veszprém KC and was also missing from the national team selection. Hans Gál Officer of the Order of the British Empire, OBE (5 August 1890 – 3 October 1987) was an Austrian composer, pedagogue, musicologist, and author, who emigrated to the United Kingdom in 1938. Life Gál was born to a Jewish family in the small village of Brunn am Gebirge, Lower Austria, just outside Vienna, the son of a doctor, Josef Gál. In 1909, his piano teacher Richard Robert (who also taught George Szell, Rudolf Serkin and Clara Haskil) appointed Gál as a teacher when he became director of the Neues Wiener Konservatorium, New Vienna Conservatory. From 1909 to 1913, Gál studied music history at the University of Vienna under music historian Guido Adler, who published Gál's doctoral dissertation on the style of the young Beethoven in his own ''Studien zur Musikwissenschaft''. Steven Alexander Gaal (February 22, 1924 – March 17, 2016) (also known as István Sándor Gál or I. S. Gál) was a Hungarian- American mathematician and Professor of Mathematics at the University of Minnesota—Minneapolis. Education Gaal received his Ph.D. under Frigyes Riesz and Lipót Fejér in 1947, although at the time, graduate study in Hungary did not exist in the formal way it is thought of today. There were no formalities of preliminary exams or qualifying exams, no thesis advisor or tuition. After World War I, Hungary was dismembered and the Austro-Hungarian monarchy ended. Two thirds of Hungary's territory was given to other states, some existing, others created and since vanished. Under these conditions, only few higher education faculty could be appointed and students had to learn only from books or one or two old sick professors.
