Guyra Argus
The ''Guyra Argus'' is an English-language newspaper published weekly in Guyra, New South Wales. History The ''Guyra Argus'' was first published in 1902 by Albert Michael Roche and was published under this title until 1957. The newspaper reappeared under various other names, including the ''Guyra Guardian'' from 1959 to 1983, when it was bought by Rural Press Ltd and incorporated into the ''Tablelands Times''. A local community newspaper, called the ''Guyra Shire Chronicle'', followed from 1983 to 1988. After this closed, a series of community meetings were held to determine the future of the newspaper and Geoffrey and Margaret Hovey, who had previously owned '' The Tenterfield Star'' were asked to launch a newspaper; they began publishing the ''Guyra Weekly News'' in 1989 and it remained in publication until 1992. Guyra
Guyra is a town situated midway between Armidale and Glen Innes on the Northern Tablelands in the New England region of New South Wales, Australia. It is within Armidale Regional Council and at the 2016 census, it had a population of 1,983. Material was copied from this source, which is available under Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International License The New England Highway is the main transport link to Guyra. The Northern Railway tracks still pass through the town, but the line is now disused north of Armidale. Guyra is located to one side of the Mother of Ducks Lagoon which is contained within the crater of an extinct volcano. It continues ''The Tenterfield Star and New England Chronicle'', published by Christopher Bentley, and absorbed ''The Tenterfield Record and Border Advertiser'', published by Frederick Samuel Grey from 16 January 1885 until approximately 1890. New England is a vaguely defined region in the north of the state of New South Wales, Australia, about 60 km inland from the Tasman Sea. The area includes the Northern Tablelands (or New England Tablelands) and the North West Slopes regions.
