Guy Reese
Guy Reese (September 22, 1939 – November 22, 2010) was a professional American football defensive tackle in the National Football League for the Dallas Cowboys, Baltimore Colts (1953–1983), Baltimore Colts and Atlanta Falcons. He played college football at Southern Methodist University. Early years Reese attended South Oak Cliff High School, where he played as a two-way tackle. He accepted a football scholarship from Southern Methodist University. He became a starter at right tackle as a junior. Professional career Dallas Cowboys Reese was selected by the Dallas Cowboys in the fifteenth round (200th overall) of the 1962 NFL Draft and by the History of the Kansas City Chiefs, Dallas Texans in the eleventh round (83rd overall) of the 1962 AFL Draft. Defensive Tackle
A defensive tackle (DT) is a position in American football that will typically line up on the line of scrimmage, opposite one of the offensive guards, however he may also line up opposite one of the tackles. Defensive tackles are typically the largest and strongest of the defensive players. Depending on a team's individual defensive scheme, a defensive tackle may be called upon to fill several different roles. These roles may include merely holding the point of attack by refusing to be moved, or penetrating a certain gap between offensive linemen to break up a play in the opponent's backfield. If a defensive tackle reads a pass play, his primary responsibility is to pursue the quarterback, or simply knock the pass down at the line if it is within arm's reach. In gridiron football, a lineman is a player who specializes in play at the line of scrimmage. The linemen of the team currently in possession of the ball are the offensive line, while linemen on the opposing team are the defensive line. 1967 NFL Season
The 1967 NFL season was the 48th regular season of the National Football League. The league expanded to 16 teams with the addition of the New Orleans Saints. The two 8-team conferences were split into two divisions each: the Eastern Conference divisions were Capitol (Dallas, New Orleans, Philadelphia, and Washington) and Century (Cleveland, New York, Pittsburgh, and St. Louis), and the Western Conference divisions were Central (Chicago, Detroit, Green Bay, and Minnesota) and Coastal (Atlanta, Baltimore, Los Angeles, and San Francisco). Each division winner advanced to the playoffs, expanded to four teams in this year. The Saints and the New York Giants agreed to switch divisions in and return to the 1967 alignment in 1969. Fred David Miller (born August 8, 1940) is a former American football defensive tackle in the National Football League from 1963 through 1972. James Reginald Colvin (November 30, 1937 – August 30, 2019) was a former American football defensive tackle in the National Football League (NFL) for the Baltimore Colts, Dallas Cowboys, and New York Giants. He played college football at the University of Houston. Early years Colvin attended Lutcher-Stark High School. He accepted a football scholarship from the University of Houston. 1964 NFL Season
The 1964 NFL season was the 45th regular season of the National Football League. Before the season started, NFL commissioner Pete Rozelle reinstated Green Bay Packers running back Paul Hornung and Detroit Lions defensive tackle Alex Karras, who had been suspended for the 1963 season due to gambling. Beginning this season, the home team in each game was allowed the option of wearing their white jerseys. Since 1957, league rules had mandated that the visiting team wear white and the home team wear colored jerseys. The NFL also increased the regular season roster limit from 37 to 40 active players, which would remain unchanged for a decade.
