Guy Mortier
Guy Mortier (born 24 March 1943) is a Flemish journalist and radio and television personality. He is known as former chief editor of magazine ''HUMO'' for over thirty years (1969–2003). Apart from editing articles, he also wrote pun-based headlines for them and occasionally wrote columns and reviews of rock records. Early in his career, he hosted his own rock music radio show ''Schudden Voor Gebruik''. He was also jury member in the satirical comedy radio programs ''De taalstrijd'' and ''De Perschefs''. He is also known as panel member in the television show ''Alles Kan Beter'' which first aired in December 1997. In 2014, he received the ''Vlaamse Cultuurprijs voor Algemene Culturele Verdienste'', a prize for contributions to the culture of Flanders Flanders ( or ; ) is the Dutch language, Dutch-speaking northern portion of Belgium and one of the communities, regions and language areas of Belgium. HUMO
''Humo'' (stylized in all caps) is a popular Dutch-language Belgian weekly radio and television magazine. History and profile ''Humoradio'' (meaning a portmanteau of 'humor' and 'radio' in English) was first published in 1936 as a Dutch-language counterpart to ''Le Moustique'', now '' Télémoustique''. During World War II between 1940 and 1944, ''Humoradio'' was not published. In 1958, when television started to reach a larger audience in the country, the magazine was renamed as ''Humo''. The magazine is published on a weekly basis. ''Humo'' as it is recognized today started emerging from 1969 on, when Guy Mortier became its chief editor. He gave the magazine its playful comedic tone, put more emphasis on articles about rock music and shaped it into a magazine that appealed to a left-wing, progressive audience. ''Alles Kan Beter (Everything Can Be Better)'' was a Belgium, Belgian comedy TV series produced by Flanders, Flemish production house Woestijnvis between the end of 1997 and 1999. It was broadcast on the public TV channel Canvas (Belgium), Canvas, directed by Jan Eelen and starred TV presenter Mark Uytterhoeven, chief editor of ''HUMO'' Guy Mortier and the newcomer on television at that time Rob Vanoudenhoven as regular hosts. The fourth presenter was a different guest every week. The program was a combination of humoristic commentary on archive footage taped from the Flemish TV channels Vlaamse Radio- en Televisieomroeporganisatie, VRT and its rival VTM (TV channel), vtm and sketches starring the four hosts. The show achieved cult following, cult status and is still repeated regularly.
