Guumays
Guumays (Guumeys) is a village in the Sool region currently under the control of Khatumo State forces. History Guumays is listed in a book published in England in 1951 under the name Gumeis. After Puntland gained independence in 1998, the Somaliland militia's area of operations extended to Guumays and the Puntland militia's area of operations extended to Las Anod. In July 2005, the Somaliland National Electoral Commission inspected the situation in Yagori District and reported that elections could be held in Guumays, Yagori, Tuuolo-Samakaab, and Adhi'adeye. In July 2011, the Somaliland government reported the completion of a 65-kilometer road connecting Las Anod and Guumays as an achievement of the past three months. In January 2014, Somaliland Interior Minister Ali Mohamed Warancadde visited Guumays to end inter-clan strife. Khatumo State
SSC-Khaatumo (), officially known as the SSC-Khaatumo State of Somalia (), is a federal member state in northern Somalia, with its capital in Las Anod. It includes parts of the Sool, Sanaag and Cayn regions (combined under the acronym "SSC") It is bordered by Puntland to the east, the Somali Region of Ethiopia to the south, Somaliland to the west and Erigavo District to the north. Several months into the Las Anod conflict that erupted in early 2023, SSC-Khatumo forces effectively took over those regions, securing most of their claimed area and establishing a new front line about 170km from Las Anod between the villages of Oog and Guumays in western Sool. Aynaba
Aynaba, also spelt Ainabo, Ainaba or Aynabo (, ) is a major town in western Sool region of Somaliland as well as the administrative seat of the Aynaba District. Overview Aynaba is situated on a busy tarmac road connecting Somaliland's major cities to Somalia and is the second largest town in the Sool region of Somaliland after Las Anod. The town is almost at the exact center between Burao and Las Anod, with the town being 127 km and 124 km away from both cities respectively. The name "Aynaba" or "Aynabo" translates to "black" in the Somali language. Aynaba is home to the famous Aynaba Well, well known throughout Somaliland and among Somalis in general for its depth and abundant water, which attracts nomads from neighbouring Togdheer, Sanaag and Sool regions and has been the subject of many poems. Tuulo Samakaab
Tuulo Samakaab or Tuula Samakaab is a village in the Sool Region, currently under the control of Khatumo State forces. It is situated in the middle of the road connecting Guumays and Las Anod. Furthermore, it serves as the starting point of the road that connects to the Buhoodle District. History In August 2016, Somaliland President Silanyo visited Tuulo Samakaab and participated in the groundbreaking ceremony for the mother and child care center. In June 2017, the Governor of Sool notified to the IDP camp residents to relocate from Kaamamka Dhiirigoob, Ceelmidgaan, Siixawle, and Kalberdaale to their previous residence, Yagori, Tuulo Samakaab, and Adhi'adeye, in accordance with an order from the Ministry of Interior. Yagori
Yagori (, Yaguri) is a town in the northern Sool Region of Somalia. Recent history In January 1991, a peace conference was held in Yagori under the leadership of the Somali National Movement (later the government of Somaliland), and Habr Je'lo, Habar Yoonis, and Dhulbahante clans participated. In July 2002, the Somaliland army deployed 450 troops in Yagori. The governor of Puntland's Sool region, who was in Las Anod at the time, condemned the move, saying it would split the Harti clan. In 2005, elections were held in Somaliland, in Yagori town, which is controlled by the Somaliland Armed Forces, but even within Yagori district there were places where elections were not held. Justice And Welfare Party
The Justice and Welfare Party (, UCID; ), sometimes translated as the Justice and Welfare Association, and also known as For Justice and Development, was the oldest political party in Somaliland. The party tended to be supported by people from the Cidagale and Garxajis and some sub-clans of the Isaaq. UCID was founded in 2001 by Somaliland politician Faysal Ali Warabe, with its program being inspired by that of the Finnish Social Democratic Party. Waraabe also served as its Chairman. The party had been described as the only one at a national level that adhered to a specific political ideology. Yasin Haji Mohamoud Hiir () also known as Faratoon (Faraton) is a Somaliland politician, who is currently the speaker of Somaliland's Lower House of Parliament (House of Representatives).
