Tom Gutteridge
Thomas Michael Gillan Gutteridge (born 2 February 1952) is a British television director, producer and executive. He was formerly Chief Executive of FremantleMedia NA, having previously been founder and Chief Executive of Mentorn, from 1985 to 2001. In 2016 he was appointed Executive Producer of the television series BattleBots, which, after two seasons on ABC, in 2018 moved to the Discovery and Science Channels. Helena Gutteridge (8 April 1879 – 1 October 1960) was a Feminism, feminist, a Women's suffrage, suffragist, a trade unionist and the first female city councillor in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada. Helena was recognized for being a pioneer in pushing for women's rights in British Columbia during a time when gender equality was not yet a prominent social movement and discourse. Born in Battersea, London, in Victorian England, Helena was the second daughter of the Gutteridge family. At the age of 14, Helena was denied access to further education due to social class and gender discrimination. To continue pursuing an education, Helena left home in the same year and gradually lost touch with her family. Reginald George Gutteridge, (29 March 1924 – 24 January 2009) was a British boxing journalist and television commentator. Gutteridge was born into a boxing family in Islington, London. His grandfather, Arthur, was the first professional boxer to appear at the original National Sporting Club. His father and uncle (Dick and Jack, the Gutteridge Twins) were recognised as the premier cornermen and trainers in Britain throughout the 1920s and 1930s. Gutteridge was an amateur flyweight boxer when he was conscripted as a foot soldier with the King's Royal Rifle Corps in 1942. During the Invasion of Normandy two years later, Gutteridge jumped from a tank and landed on a mine. This cost him his left leg and dreams of becoming a boxing champion. Michael Gutteridge (1842–1935) was an English Methodist and businessman who founded a successful drapery business in Naples, and the Wesley House seminary in Cambridge, England. The Italian fashion brand Gutteridge still exists, using the strapline "''dal 1878''" ("since 1878") as part of its image. Personal life Gutteridge was born in Selby, Yorkshire. He married Ada Cooke (died 1921), daughter of Samuel Cooke, a carpet mill owner from Liversedge, Yorkshire. Their son Harold Cooke Gutteridge (1876–1953) was a notable jurist. Gutteridge died on 26 May 1935. Donald Joseph Gutteridge (June 19, 1912 – September 7, 2008) was an American infielder, coach, manager and scout in Major League Baseball. Primarily a second baseman and third baseman, he was a member of the St. Louis Cardinals, St. Louis Browns, Boston Red Sox and Pittsburgh Pirates over 12 seasons between 1936 and 1948, and later managed the Chicago White Sox in 1969–1970. He was the regular second baseman of the 1944 Browns, the only St. Louis entry to win an American League pennant. Born in Pittsburg, Kansas, Gutteridge was a first cousin of MLB catcher Ray Mueller. Rob Gutteridge (born 1954) is a South Australian artist and arts educator. As well as teaching at Adelaide Central School of Art, Gutteridge runs the Rob Gutteridge School of Classical Realism. Biography Gutteridge was born in West Bromwich, England in 1954 and arrived in Australia in 1965. He studied painting at the South Australian School of Art (now University of South Australia), and then worked as an illustrator, primarily of insects, for the South Australian Museum (1976-1979). In 1979, he received a travel grant from the Australia Council and a scholarship from the New York Studio School and, in 1992, thanks to another award, he studied at the Atelier Artistique Internationale des Artes in France. Mary Valentine Gutteridge
Mary Valentine Gutteridge (February 14, 1887 – June 15, 1962) was an Australian educationalist and kindergarten principal. She is creditted as "the founder in Australia of the nursery school system". Life Gutteridge was born in 1887 in Tasmania at Launceston. She was the first of five children born to Mary Kate (born Penney) and her husband Matthew Wilkins Gutteridge. After her four brothers were born, the family moved, so that her father could practice at Melbourne's Homoeopathic Hospital. Her brothers were to be doctors and engineers. Alan Gordon Gutteridge (4 February 1892 – February 1942) was an Australian civil engineer and a founder of Gutteridge Haskins & Davey (now known as the GHD Group). He was based in Melbourne. Early life Gordon Gutteridge was born in Launceston, Tasmania. He was the son of a medical doctor, and one of five children. His brother Hal was an engineer and later became mayor of the City of Westminster in London. Gordon attended Melbourne Grammar School and later studied engineering at Melbourne University.
