Gustavo Barreiro
Gustavo "Gus" Alberto Barreiro (July 12, 1959 – August 16, 2019) was a Republican politician from Florida. He served four terms in the Florida House of Representatives, representing the 107th district in Miami-Dade County from 1998 to 2006. His district encompassed parts of Miami, Miami Beach, and Coral Gables. In 2012, Barreiro ran for the Florida House again, but lost the Republican primary in the 112th district to Alex Díaz de la Portilla, 59 to 41%. He died after a heart attack in 2019. Controversy Barreiro was terminated from his position as director of residential facilities for the Florida Department of Juvenile Justice in 2009 after an investigation revealed that he had downloaded 300 to 400 sexually explicit adult porn images onto his state-issued laptop. Bruno Arthur Barreiro (born December 14, 1965) is a Republican politician from Florida. Martin Anderson Case
Martin Lee Anderson (c. January 15, 1991 – January 6, 2006) was a 14-year-old from Florida who died while incarcerated at a boot camp-style youth detention center, the Bay County Boot Camp, Mark A. Ober, State Attorney, to The Honorable Jeb Bush, Governor, November 28, 2006 located in Panama City, Florida, and operated by the Bay County Sheriff's Office. Upon arriving at the camp he was forced to run track, and within two hours he became fatigued and stopped. The guards coerced him to continue his run. He returned to the track, collapsed and died a short while later. A 30-minute portion of the surveillance video depicting the coercion was made public. Alejandro Díaz de la Portilla (born August 25, 1964) is a political consultant and former politician from Florida. A Republican, Díaz de la Portilla was a City of Miami Commissioner for District 1 and a member of the Florida Senate from 2000 to 2010, representing parts of Miami-Dade County. Previously, he served in the Florida House of Representatives from 1994 until his election to the Senate. In September 2023, Diaz de la Portilla was arrested on charges of money laundering, bribery, criminal conspiracy, and illegal compensation for official acts.
