Tokio Hotel is a German Band (rock and pop), music band formed in 2001 by singer Bill Kaulitz, guitarist Tom Kaulitz, bassist Georg Listing, and drummer Gustav Schäfer. Starting from the foundation, the band's music genres were pop rock and alternative rock; since 2014, the band began to perform electropop and synth-pop. After recording a demo album under the name "Devilish" and having their contract with Sony BMG, Sony BMG Germany terminated, the band released their first German-language album, ''Schrei'', as Tokio Hotel on Universal Music Group, Universal Music Germany in 2005. ''Schrei'' sold more than half-a-million copies worldwide and spawned four top-five singles in both Germany and Austria. ''2001'' is the seventh studio album by German band Tokio Hotel. It was released worldwide on 18 November 2022. The album's name, the cover and the tracklist were revealed through YouTube Premium live on 19 July 2022. ''2001'' is the band's first studio album in well over five years, following '' Dream Machine'' (2017), marking the longest gap between two Tokio Hotel studio albums.
