Guomao Building
The Guomao Building (, otherwise known as International Foreign Trade Centre) is an office tower and one of the earliest skyscrapers in Shenzhen, China. Its fast construction process was termed the " Shenzhen speed". Located at the junction of Jiabin Road and Renmin South Road, Luohu District, the building stands 160 metres tall and consists of 50 floors. Construction started on 1 November 1982 and was completed 37 months later on December 29, 1985. This earned the city's rapid development the nickname "Shenzhen Speed". It was the tallest building in China upon completion. The building stands on a slot of 20,000 square metres and a built-up floor area of 100,000 square metres. It consists mainly of office space (floors 5-43, except 24) but features a revolving restaurant at the 48th and 49th floor and a helipad atop the building. The first five floors are retail spaces. Baiyun Hotel
Baiyun Hotel () is a hotel in Guangzhou, China. Standing 93.5 meters tall, and 117 meters with antenna, with 34 floors, it surpassed Guangzhou Hotel to be the tallest building in the country upon its completion in 1976 and remained so until 1981 when Jinling Hotel of Nanjing, 110 meters, was built. If including antenna, it was still the tallest until 1985 when it was surpassed by Guomao Building in Shenzhen. The Shenzhen speed (simplified Chinese: 深圳速度; traditional Chinese: 深圳速度) was a term originally used during the early stages of Chinese economic reform to describe the fast construction of Guomao Building in Shenzhen, China. Being the tallest building in China at the time, Guomao Building boasts an efficient construction progress in which the completion of every storey took a mere three days. The term has been used to describe the fast growth of Shenzhen as one of the first special economic zones of China, which has been called "China's Silicon Valley" and the "Instant City". Luohu District
Luohu District is a district of Shenzhen, China, located north of the New Territories of Hong Kong, east of Futian District, southeast of Longgang District, southwest of Pingshan District, and west of Yantian District. It is one of the oldest parts of the city, having represented Shenzhen as a fishing village before 1953 and a market town from 1953 to 1979, when Bao'an County was promoted to a prefecture-level city and renamed Shenzhen.
