Guntur Mandal
Guntur Urban mandal (or Guntur mandal) was a former mandal in Guntur district of the Indian state of Andhra Pradesh, before it was split into Guntur East and Guntur West mandals in 2018. It was under the administration of Guntur revenue division and its headquarters at Guntur, The mandal was bounded by Medikonduru, Tadikonda, Pedakakani, Edlapadu, Prathipadu, Vatticherukuru and Chebrole mandals. Demographics census, the mandal had a population of 779,289. The total population constituted 389,582 males and 389,707 females — a sex ratio of 1000 females per 1000 males. 77,189 children were in the age group of 0–6 years, of which 39,616 were boys and 37,573 were girls. The average literacy rate stood at 78.82% with 553,422 literates. Census Of India
The decennial Census of India has been conducted 16 times, as of 2021. While it has been undertaken every 10 years, beginning in 1872 under British Viceroy Lord Mayo, the first complete census was taken in 1881. Post 1949, it has been conducted by the Registrar General and Census Commissioner of India under the Ministry of Home Affairs, Government of India. All the censuses since 1951 were conducted under the 1948 Census of India Act. The last census was held in 2011, whilst the next was to be held in 2021. Guntur Municipal Corporation is the civic body that governs the Guntur City in the Indian state of Andhra Pradesh. It is one of the oldest municipalities and the third largest municipal corporation in the state.
