Sally Gunnell
Sally Jane Janet Gunnell (born 29 July 1966) is a British former track and field athlete, active between 1984 and 1997, who won the 1992 Olympic gold medal in the 400 metres hurdles. During a golden 24-month period between 1992 and 1994, Gunnell won every international event open to her, claiming Olympic Games, World Championship, European Championship, Commonwealth Games, Goodwill Games, IAAF World Cup and European Cup golds in the event, and breaking the British, European and World records in it. She is the only female British athlete to have won all four 'majors'; Olympic, World, European and Commonwealth titles, and was the first female 400 metres hurdler in history to win the Olympic and World titles and break the world record. Her former world record time of 52.74 secs in 1993, still ranks in the world all-time top ten (as of 2022) and is the current British record. Grant Gunnell
Grant Gunnell (born November 24, 1999) is an American football quarterback for the Sam Houston Bearkats. Gunnell started his college career at Arizona in 2019 before transferring to Memphis in 2021, then transferring to North Texas in 2022, and transferring to Sam Houston in 2023. Early years Originally playing at College Park High School in The Woodlands, Texas as a freshman, Gunnell transferred to St. Pius X High School in Houston, Texas as a sophomore, where his older brother Nelson Gunnell was playing quarterback. During his career at St Pius, Grant actually surpassed his older brother on the depth chart and set the Texas high school records for passing touchdowns (195) and passing yards (16,108). Richard Gunnell
Richard Gunnell (fl. 1613 – 1634) was an actor, playwright, and theatre manager in Jacobean and Caroline era London. He is best remembered for his role in the founding of the Salisbury Court Theatre. Actor and playwright Nothing is known of Gunnell's early life or the first phase of his stage career. He acted with the Admiral's Men, then called the Palsgrave's Men, from 1613 to 1622. When the Palsgrave's Men received their renewed charter and their new name on 4 January 1613, Gunnell was already a sharer in the company. Despite the scantiness of the documentary record for the Palsgrave's troupe, Gunnell can be seen moving up into a managerial responsibility over his years with the company. In the 1613 charter he is listed twelfth of the fourteen sharers. On the company's 1618 lease of the Fortune Playhouse from owner Edward Alleyn, Gunnell is fourth of ten. Robert Gunnell
Robert "Bob" Gunnell (2 March 1927 – 19 April 2014) was a broadcaster and a central figure in the cultural life of Brighton and Hove. In 1967, Gunnell was appointed founder manager of BBC Sussex, BBC Radio Brighton, one of the first experimental local radio stations to be opened by the BBC. His belief was that the local community should play a central role in the running, interests and regional character of this station. Already active in other areas of community life after having helped organise the Goldstone Valley Residents’ Association and having served as an Independent member of Hove Borough Council, Gunnell went on to serve as a local magistrate, in the 1970s being elected Chairman of the Brighton Philharmonic Society. John Gunnell
William John Gunnell (1 October 1933 – 28 January 2008) was a Labour Party politician in the United Kingdom. Early life He was born in Birmingham, and educated at King Edward's School, Birmingham. He gained a BSc in General Studies in 1955, and a PGCE in 1958 from the University of Leeds. As a conscientious objector during National Service he was a hospital porter at St Bartholomew's Hospital, London. In the 1960s he was a chemistry teacher at the United Nations International School in New York City. From 1970 to 1988 he was a Lecturer in the School of Education at the University of Leeds. From 1977 to 1986 he was a councillor on West Yorkshire County Council, being the leader 1981–86. He was also a councillor on Leeds City Council 1986–92.
