Gunnar Mascoll Silfverstolpe
Oscar Gunnar Mascoll Silfverstolpe (21 January 1893 – 26 June 1942) was a Swedish poet, translator, and member of the Swedish Academy. Biography Silfverstolpe was born in Rytterne, Västmanland County. He was the son of army captain Carl Edvard Mascoll Silfverstolpe and Elsa Maria Gagge. Following his matriculation examination (studentexamen) in 1911, he entered Uppsala University and studied art history. He graduated with a BA 1914 and a licentiate degree 1919. In 1918, he began working at the Royal Collections (Kungliga Husgerådskammaren). He rose to become the head of this department in 1936. Silfverstolpe was secretary of the Bellman Society 1919–1934, and chairman from 1940. He was a board member of the Swedish PEN Club from 1922. This is a list of members of the Swedish Academy by seat number. The dates shown indicate the terms of the members, who generally serve for life except for Gustaf Mauritz Armfelt who was excluded twice. On 2 May 2018, the Carl XVI Gustaf of Sweden, Swedish King amended the rules of the academy and made it possible for members to resign. The new rules also states that a member who has been inactive in the work of the academy for more than two years, can be asked to resign. Following the new rules, the first members to formally be granted permission to leave the Academy and vacating their chairs were Kerstin Ekman, Klas Östergren, Sara Stridsberg and Lotta Lotass. PEN International (known as International PEN until 2010) is a worldwide professional association, association of writers, founded in London in 1921 to promote friendship and intellectual co-operation among writers everywhere. The association has autonomous International PEN centres in more than 100 countries. Carl Michael Bellman
Carl Michael Bellman (; 4 February 1740 – 11 February 1795) was a Swedish songwriter, composer, musician, poet, and entertainer. He is a central figure in the Swedish song tradition and remains a powerful influence in Swedish music, as well as in Scandinavian literature, to this day. He has been compared to Shakespeare, Beethoven, Mozart, and Hogarth, but his gift, using elegantly rococo classical references in comic contrast to sordid drinking and prostitution—at once regretted and celebrated in song—is unique. Bellman is best known for two collections of poems set to music, '' Fredman's epistles'' (''Fredmans epistlar'') and '' Fredman's songs'' (''Fredmans sånger''). Each consists of about 70 songs.
