Gund Manufacturing Company is an American manufacturer of Stuffed toy, plush stuffed animals. The company is based in Edison, New Jersey, and distributes throughout the United States and Canada as well as in Europe, Japan, Australia, and South America. Gund is currently run by third generation family owner Bruce Raiffe whose grandfather Jacob Swedlin purchased the company from the original founder (Adolph Gund) in 1925. Their slogan is "Gotta Getta Gund". The company is best known for its line of teddy bears, and holds or has held licensing agreements with companies such as ''Sesame Street'', Peter Rabbit, Curious George, Studio Ghibli, Hello Kitty, ''PAW Patrol'', and Toca Boca. It has won multiple awards during its 120+ years and was also the face of a United States Postal Service stamp. Agnes Gund
Agnes Gund (born August 13, 1938) is an American philanthropist and arts patron, collector of modern and contemporary art, and arts education and social justice advocate. She is President Emerita and Life Trustee of the Museum of Modern Art (MoMA) and Chairman of its International Council. She is a board member of MoMA PS1. In 1977, in response to New York City's fiscal crisis that led to budget cuts that virtually eliminated arts education in public schools, Gund founded Studio in a School, a nonprofit organization that engages professional artists as art instructors in public schools and community-based organizations to lead classes in drawing, printmaking, painting, collage, sculpture, and digital media, and to work with classroom teachers, administrators, and families to incorporate visual art into their school communities. George Gund II
George Gund II (April 13, 1888 – November 15, 1966) was an American banker, business executive, and real estate investor who lived in Cleveland, Ohio, in the United States. He inherited his father's fortune and used a portion of it to purchase alien property seized during World War I. He sold this business at significant profit, and invested widely in banking, insurance, and real estate. Among his investments were a large number of shares in the then-small Cleveland Trust Company. Gund became a director of the bank in 1937 and president in 1941. He led the transformation of the institution into one of the largest banks in the United States. George Gund III
George Gund III (May 7, 1937 – January 15, 2013) was an American businessman and sports entrepreneur. Biography Gund III was born in Cleveland, Ohio on May 7, 1937, to Jessica Roesler and George Gund II, a powerful banker in Cleveland. A high-school dropout, Gund joined the United States Marines in 1955 when he was 18 years old. His early years in the Marines brought him to the city of San Francisco, California, where he soon took up residence. After his military service, Gund attended Menlo College in Atherton, California, but never graduated. He instead began bringing in Eastern European films and distributing them around San Francisco and the US, using his membership in the San Francisco Film Society as a catalyst. Gordon Gund (born October 15, 1939) is an American businessman and professional sports owner. He is the CEO of Gund Investment Corporation. He is the former co-owner of the San Jose Sharks (National Hockey League) from 1992 to 2002, former principal owner of the Cleveland Cavaliers (National Basketball Association) from 1983 to 2005, and former principal owner of the Cleveland Rockers (Women's National Basketball Association) from 1997 to 2003. Graham Gund
Graham de Conde Gund (October 28, 1940 – June 6, 2025) was an American architect and the president of the Gund Partnership, an American architecture firm based in Cambridge, Massachusetts, and founded by Gund in 1971. An heir to George Gund II, he was also a collector of contemporary art, whose collection was widely exhibited and published. A native of Cleveland, Ohio, born on October 28, 1940, Gund was educated at Westminster School (Connecticut), Kenyon College, and the Rhode Island School of Design. Gunde Anders Svan (born 12 January 1962) is a Swedish former cross-country skier and auto racing driver. During his cross-country skiing career he won a total of four gold, one silver and one bronze medals at the Winter Olympics. Svan won a total of seven golds, three silvers, and one bronze at the FIS Nordic World Ski Championships. Svan also won the 15 km once (1983) and the 50 km twice (1986, 1990) at the Holmenkollen ski festival. Kanihama
Kanihama or Kanihoam formerly known as Gund Kawarhama, is a village situated on the Srinagar-Gulmarg road in the Budgam district of Jammu and Kashmir (union territory), Jammu and Kashmir in India. The Kani Shawls produced in the area were given a geographical indication status by the government of Jammu and Kashmir, making it illegal to sell shawls made outside of the Kanihama area as Kani shawls.
