''Gun Gospel'' is a 1927 American silent Western film directed by Harry Joe Brown and written by Marion Jackson and Don Ryan. It is based on the 1926 novel ''Gun Gospel'' by William Dawson Hoffman. The film stars Ken Maynard, Virginia Brown Faire, Romaine Fielding, Bob Fleming, J. P. McGowan and Jerry Madden. The film was released on November 6, 1927, by First National Pictures. Harry Joe Brown
Harry Joe Brown (September 22, 1890 – April 28, 1972) was an American film producer, and earlier a theatre and film director. Biography Harry Joe Brown was born in 1890 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. As a producer, he had a partnership with director Budd Boetticher, actor Randolph Scott and screenwriter Burt Kennedy, which generated a series of five westerns between 1957 and 1960 ('' The Tall T, Decision at Sundown, Buchanan Rides Alone, Ride Lonesome, Comanche Station'') via a company he created with Scott which eventually became known as Ranown Pictures Corp. He produced the American debut films of both Errol Flynn in '' Captain Blood'' and Sean Flynn in ''Son of Captain Blood''. Noah Young
Noah Young, Jr. (February 2, 1887 – April 18, 1958) was a champion weightlifter and actor. Biography Young was born in Cañon City, Colorado. His father, Noah Young, was a foreman of the Glenrock coal mine who later became a coal mine inspector for the State of Wyoming; and his mother was Mary Anson, of English descent. Noah Young Sr. came from a family of coal miners in Lancashire, England; and he dabbled in bare knuckle fighting before heading to America in 1874 and settling in Colorado. He was allegedly once an Indian scout and became friends with William F. Cody. Noah Young Jr. joined the Hal Roach studios as an actor, mainly playing comic villains. He appeared in several Laurel and Hardy comedies but was more notable as a foil for Harold Lloyd, whom he supported in over 50 films. Marion Jackson (December 3, 1879 – November 28, 1962) was an American screenwriter of the late silent and early sound film eras. During her 15-year career she would pen the scripts for over 40 films, both original and adaptations. Biography Born in Walla Walla, Washington, she wrote her first script, an original screenplay, which was produced by Monogram Pictures in 1924, ''The Mask of Lopez'', directed by Albert Rogell. It would be her most prolific year, as she would contribute to 11 screenplays that year, either as the screenwriter, or providing the story, or adapting from another source. One of the films she adapted that year was 1924's ''A Boy of Flanders'', from Marie Louise de la Ramée's 1872 novel, ''A Dog of Flanders''. The film was directed by Victor Schertzinger, and starred Jackie Coogan.
