Murree Tehsil () is one of the two Tehsils (i.e. sub-divisions) of Murree District in the Punjab (Pakistan), Punjab Subdivisions of Pakistan, province of Pakistan. Murree Tehsil is located in the northernmost part of Punjab province where it borders Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. The hill resort city of Murree is the capital city of this area. Murree, ( Punjabi/) is a district of the Rawalpindi Division in the northernmost part of the Pakistani province of Punjab. It was created out of Rawalpindi District in 2022 and consists of two tehsils, Kotli Sattian and Murree. Administrative division Demographics Population As of the 2023 census, Murree district has 66,187 households and a population of 372,947. The district has a sex ratio of 101.18 males to 100 females and a literacy rate of 85.90%: 92.13% for males and 79.52% for females. 82,063 (22.19% of the surveyed population) are under 10 years of age. 48,729 (13.07%) live in urban areas. Religion Language At the time of the 2023 census, 43.93% of the population spoke Punjabi, while 26.00% identified their mother-tongue as Hindko, 5.73% as Urdu and 2.12% as Pashto. 20.26% of the population spoke a language classified as 'Others'. Patriata
Patriata also known as New Murree is a hill station in northern Punjab, Pakistan. It is situated south-east of Murree hill. Patriata is located in Murree Tehsil which is a subdivision of Murree District. It is the highest point in the area and the hills stand above sea level. Tourism The cooler climate in Patriata makes this hill station a favorable tourist location compared to further south. The large tourist presence in Murree also makes Patriata a more attractive hub for many. A Gondola chair lift and cable car system allow visitors to access the highest points. The area is heavily forested and there are many monkeys and leopards in the area.
